This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

The Oscars  are the most important night on television for actors, directors and producers. For us viewers it is the most exciting night of the Red Carpet season. Although it signals an approaching end to awards season, it is the chance for the stars to show off stunning gowns from their favorite A-list designers. Here 15 fabulous and elegent looks that deserve to be called Best Dressed of the 87th annual Oscars.

Margot Robbie ruled the red carpet in a Saint Laurent black gown with an added tassel statement  necklace. Her short hair and bold red lip completed the vampy look.

Chrissy Teigen has been killing it this awards season on the arm of her nominated husband John Legend. Last night she showed off her toned legs in a light blue Zuhair Murad gown.

Cate Blanchett went simple and classy on the Red Carpet. She wore a black Maison Margiela gown and added a turquoise statement necklace to give her look a pop of color.

Zoe Saldana, who three months ago gave birth to twins (!!!), stunned the Red Carpet in a blush colored Atelier Versace gown.

Naomi Watts went for a risk in a bandeau Armani Privé gown. Despite her being dissed on the Red Carpet we think she was one of the night’s Best Dressed.

Marion Cotillard, who is the new face of Christian Dior, proudly sported the designer in a white couture gown.

E! Live from The Red Carpet host, Guilanna Rancic, took over the carpet in a Mireill Dagher gown and tousled “lob” hairstyle.

Jennifer Aniston proved why she is our ultimate women crush in this beaded Versace gown.

Presenter Kerry Washington channeled her TV alter ego, Olivia Pope, in a cream colored Miu Miu peplum gown.

Scarlett Johansson rocked her new chic haircut and an emerald Atelier Versace gown that showed off her amazing body and made us green with envy.

50 Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson kept it simple yet stunning in a red Saint Laurent one-shoulder gown.

Jenna Dewan Tatum looked beautiful in a white Zuhair Murad gown and sleek ponytail while accompanying her husband Channing Tatum who was presenting.

The beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow wore a one shoulder light pink Ralph and Russo gown with rosette detailing.

Best Actress nominee, Rosamund Pike stunned in a red Givenchy couture gown with matching red heels.

Birdman star, Emma Stone looked beautiful in an Elie Saab Couture gown and while she didn’t snag and Oscar, she did get a hug from fellow Best Dressed actress Jennifer Aniston.
