Our 5 Favorite Shows from NYFW

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

New York Fashion Week is the time for debuting the freshest looks for upcoming fall fashion. Here are five top shows that delivered eye-catching, impressive runway looks and increased excitement surrounding upcoming fall trends.

You can’t think about fall without thinking of football. Tommy Hilfiger turned the football craze into a creative statement with his show. Each model walked down the football field in shades of burgundy, warm shades of saffron, and browns. Mixing the sport of football with fashion is sure to grab the attention of sports and fashion addicts alike.

Donna Karan amazed with high sophistication and glamour. The black and gold color combination used in many of her pieces is a timeless pairing that appeals to mostly everyone. Karan chose to display a background shot of New York City at night to create a mysterious and alluring setting on the runway.

Caroline Herrera brought feminine elegance to the runway with a stunning strapless ruffled gown. This piece is something out of a favorite fairy tale with its Cinderella-esque silhouette and coloring. My other favorite looks included silk organza cocktail dresses, floor-length wool felt dresses, and fur-based neutral separates.

Rosie Assoulin created a tasteful show by contrasting her vibrant couture pieces against a neutral background.  Vivid crimsons and greens paired with flattering silhouettes are sure to grab the attention of celebrities and all fashion lovers.

Zac Posen’s runway show declared metallics a big trend for the upcoming fall season. His gowns featured flattering silhouettes, which are versatile for all figures. Iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell closed out the show and created an exciting finale with a gorgeous ruby metallic ball gown.
