The Most Timeless Jewelry For Your Birthstone

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

From statement rings and stacked bracelets, to dainty necklaces and dangling earrings: jewelry can make or break an outfit. The jewelry we wear becomes daily staples for us girls – I know I have some rings and necklaces I never take off! So why not take our accessories to the next level and personalize them with our birthstones? Gemstones are very ~on trend~ right now and add a little sparkle to any outfit!

1. January- Garnet

Garnet is a soft stone, so it works best protected in a necklace or in a pair of earrings. For a vintage look, try pairing with gold. For a modern look, try pairing with rose gold! This stone is said to help with strength, happiness, and balance.

2. February- Amethyst

Amethyst is another soft stone, so a necklace or earrings are the perfect way to rock it! With a gorgeous violet hue, amethyst is well-complimented with silver. This stone has calming and meditative properties associated with it.

3. March- Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a stunning shade of blue that is very versatile! It can be paired with gold for a romantic feel, or a silver, for a simpler look. Try an aquamarine ring for a subtle pop of color! This stone is associated with calmness and balance.

4. April- Diamond

A diamond is one of the most timeless gemstones out there. With its simple color and hard surface, diamonds can be worn with any metal and in any form. Try a simple necklace to keep it classy and modern! Diamonds are said to attract strength, courage, and fortitude.

5. May- Emerald

Emerald gemstones can come in a range of different greens, some being warmer and some being deeper. A warm gold compliments the emerald perfectly. Try a necklace or earrings to protect the stone! This gemstone represents love and gratitude, as well as luxury.

6. June- Pearl

Pearls are a classic look that will never go out of style! A pair of pearl studs are the perfect go-to set of earrings. This gemstone is said to attract integrity, strength, and luck.

7. July- Ruby

The ruby is one of the richest hues for gemstones. The deep red-purple stands out against anything and makes for a great statement piece. Rock a great pair of ruby studs or try a bold necklace to dress up any look! Rubies represent love, compassion, and heart.

8. August- Peridot

Peridot is the perfect, earthy shade that pairs great with a warm gold. Peridot is subtle enough that it can be paired with any metal. This gemstone looks great in every way, but we recommend trying a simple, yet sophisticated bracelet. Peridot is associated with prosperity and courage.

9. September- Sapphire

Sapphire is a stunning blue color that ranges in its specific shade. It can be a light blue, or a deep shade of blue – so you get to choose how to wear it! It is a strong gemstone and can be worn anyway without fear of tarnishing. Sapphire is connected to balance, calmness, and creativity.

10. October- Opal

Opals are breathtaking stones, with hints and flecks of the rainbow within it. Opal is a subtle color that can make a statement when the light hits it the right way! Try a dainty ring so the gemstone sees a lot of movement and capture the light. Opals are associated with psychic awareness – can you say ~cool~?

11. November- Topaz

Topaz is a versatile gemstone: it comes in shades of blue to shades of peach. Since it comes in so many shades, it is easy to wear and pair with any type of metal. You can even mix the different shades of topaz into one piece! Topaz is associated with happiness and prosperity.

12. December- Turquoise

Turquoise has been a trendy color over the years, and the gemstone is considered one of the most modern of the birthstones. It is believed that no turquoise shade is quite like another. It is well complimented by silver accents. Turquoise represents creativity and good communication.
