‘The Kissing Booth’ is Getting a Sequel and We are So Stoked

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

That’s right, you heard it correctly. One of the most watched Netflix movies of 2018, ~The Kissing Booth~, is officially getting a sequel! Joey King and Joel Courtney, aka Lee and Elle, released the teaser for the upcoming movie on their social media accounts this past Valentine’s Day. It’s a Valentine’s Day miracle! All the actors from the first movie will be coming back to their roles for the second film. Although Jacob Elordi is nowhere to be found in the video announcement, it has been confirmed that he will be coming back as Lee’s hot older brother, Noah.

For those who have not seen TKB, childhood best friends Elle and Lee created a list of rules at a very young age to make their friendship last forever. One of these rules includes #9: ‘relatives totally off limits, especially Lee’s older brother Noah.’ Everything is fine until Elle works at the kissing booth during the school’s carnival where she ends up kissing Noah and ~sparks~ fly. Their worlds turn upside down as they try to hide their ~new relationship~ from Lee.

The last movie ended with Noah going off to college and leaving Elle behind, so hopefully ‘The Kissing Booth 2’ will answer all of our remaining questions: Are Noah and Elle still together? Does Elle visit Noah at school? Will Elle choose a college based off of her relationship?

Unlike the first movie, TKB 2 will not be based on the novel by author Beth Reekles, so literally, anything can happen, and we can’t wait! Pre-production is underway and filming is anticipated to begin later on this year. No dates have officially been confirmed, but we expect the Netflix Original to drop sometime in 2020.

In the meantime, catch us watching TKB repeatedly until the sequel is released! It is still available to stream on Netflix!
