Instagram Checkout Feature Just Made Shopping So Much Easier

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Instagram has launched a new feature that allows you to buy items within the app rather than having to be directed to another website; how dangerous is that! Insta is actually making it easier for us to spend all of our money.

If we were not already targeted enough by all the sponsored ads and tags we see in our timeline, Instagram has now added the option to ~Checkout on Instagram~ when you click on one of those tags rather than be redirected to the maker’s website, giving you less time to escape and run back to Insta before making a purchase.  It essentially gives you less time to convince yourself you don’t really need the top your favorite blogger is wearing.

The fun doesn’t stop there! After your first purchase has been made, Instagram will store your payment data so that you only need to enter all your info once, making it even easier to make a second purchase.

The feature is currently only available in the U.S., and there are currently 23 stores that are participating in the primary phase of the trial. Although that may not seem like a lot, after reading the list you will realize the participatory stores are really just going to send your spending over the edge:

  • Adidas @adidaswomen & @adidasoriginals

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills @anastasiabeverlyhills

  • Burberry @burberry

  • ColourPop @colourpopcosmetics

  • Dior @dior

  • H&M @hm

  • KKW @kkwbeauty

  • Kylie Cosmetics @kyliecosmetics

  • MAC Cosmetics @maccosmetics

  • Michael Kors @michaelkors

  • Nike @niketraining & @nikewomen

  • Prada @prada

  • Zara @zara

So many of the essentials are already there and more are coming soon, rest in peace to our wallets!
