The last two years have flown by and now we’re almost halfway done with our junior year of college. We start to wonder where the time went and wish we could go back to freshman year where everything was fun and we were free of responsibilities.
At the near halfway point of junior year, we begin feeling overwhelmed whether it be due to studying for midterms, applying for summer internships, or getting ready for study abroad. The feeling of being overwhelmed goes hand-in-hand with feeling stressed, exhausted, and in a ~serious slump~.
Here are some ways to get over the “Junior-Year-Slump” and get back to enjoying the time you do have left at college:
1. Plan Accordingly
Keep an agenda, plan ahead, and try not to procrastinate! It may not be the easiest thing to do, but planning accordingly will reduce stress and free up your schedule!
2. Take Time For Yourself
Sometimes you just need a break away from everything, and that’s okay. You should take some time for yourself. Whether it be walking to the beach, exercising at the gym, or even just taking a nap, it is healthy to take some time to focus on being with yourself and relaxing.
3. Try Something New
Sometimes to get out of a slump you have to do something outside your comfort zone. Whether it be trying a new restaurant, joining a new club on campus, or taking a new yoga class, it’s always good to try new things.
4. Be Optimistic
Think of the glass as being half full rather than half empty. A positive and optimistic attitude is the start of getting you out a slump!
5. Take Advantage of Fairfield
Who knows where you might be in the next two years after you graduate! So while you are still here, take advantage of everything wonderful Fairfield has to offer – especially the beach!
