It is that time in spring when your Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds are packed with snapshots of flower crowns, street fashion and festival goers. Yes, Coachella is upon us, one of the most famous music and arts festivals held in the valley. The opening weekend has just passed but the fun does not stop there with its second weekend still ahead! And, if you’re like me who has been dreaming of wearing a bold boho chic outfit while jamming out to music amongst the most famous young stars and socialites you are having major FOMO. *tear* Here are seven ways to cope with the ever present Coachella FOMO:

  1. Stay away from social media

Your biggest enemy during this time is social media. It is not your friend or your comfort. You will just be reminded after every snap story and insta that you are in fact not there. So go media-less for the next couple days. It will give you time to yourself, allow you to detox from always being on your phone and realize that it’s better to live in the moment of where you are right. Get involved in your own area at the moment!

2. Sleep it off

I know you are thinking, really? Sleep? But, seriously if you aren’t all the way on the west coast staying up all hours in the valley, why not catch up on those Z’s? Collegiettes, I know that you’re very busy running around being the fabulous people you are and sometimes don’t get enough sleep. This is the time.  3. Focus on finals and get ahead

In speaking of busy, finals are creeping up on us. Get your mind off of everything else you have going on in your lives and bunker down either in the lib, on the beach on a beautiful day, or even cuddled up in your dorm to get ahead. Get those study guides finalized, papers started and readings finished before it gets really hectic on campus. Own it ladies.

4. Binge watch a new show

We all love finding those shows that we cannot help but stay up till 3 a.m. watching. Since you’ve got the whole weekend to binge watch a new show like Grace and Frankie or 13 Reasons Why. Honestly, binge watching shows you’ve already seen never gets old like Friends, Gossip Girl, Parks and Rec or One Tree Hill.

5. Pamper yourself

Just because those in Cali are glamming up for a music festival does not mean you can’t treat your self. I highly encourage to go out and pamper yourselves ladies. Nails, eyebrows, hair, makeup? It doesn’t matter, relax and strut like the glamorous girls you are.

6. Try Something New

Just because you aren’t posting in a flower crown doesn’t mean you can’t be posting something as equally fabulous. For those dare devils out there it may just be the time to finally go skydiving, hike a rigorous mountain, or run a race! If that is definitely not you try new activity maybe one of those wine painting classes, mix it up in the kitchen with new recipes, try new local resturants or try and start reading that book that you said you always would.

7. If you must… go all out  Okay, if none of these things work and you cannot help yourself… Look at your social media, gain ideas for when you finally make it to the Valley. Watch festival make-up tutorials. Practice makes perfect and when you finally get to show your stuff at Coachella, you will be flawless because well, you’ve already got it perfected! Think of it as preparing for one of the next, more fabulous event rather than missing out this time around.

Don’t worry collegiettes, we’ll have our chance to wear our whimsical outfits, live life and jam out at the infamous Coachella someday!
