It’s finally October! Fresh fall leaves, Halloween, pumpkin-spice lattes, apple-picking with friends, and the upcoming October events at the Fairfield University Art Museum are all on the horizon. With the stress of midterms, going to the art museum is a great way to destress! Here are the October events coming up soon:
Current Special Exhibition: “Rodin: Truth, Form, Life,”
Walsh Art Gallery in the Quick Center for the Arts,
Now until December 21, 2019
By the early 20th century, Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) was considered the greatest European sculptor since Michelangelo. His lifelike sculptures in clay, wax, plaster, marble, and bronze showcase a commitment to precise form, evoking the emotional state of his subjects and the tenacity of the human spirit. 22 of Rodin’s bronze sculptures, which were modeled between 1860 and 1910, are on display until December 21st. You don’t want to miss this!
Performance: Ekphrasis VIII
Walsh Art Gallery in the Quick Center for the Arts
Thu, October 17, 2019
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Come see Fairfield University MFA Creative Writing students read their own poetry, fiction and non-fiction inspired by the artwork in “Rodin: Truth, Form, Life.”
This is a good way to get out of your comfort zone and be inspired by artists and writers so you can feel re-energized for your work!
Mindfulness & Meditation in the Museum

Can’t live without your weekly yoga class? Feeling stressed out from midterms? Come to the free guided meditation session in the Bellarmine Hall Galleries, led by nationally advanced master certified meditation and mindfulness teacher, Jackie DeLise. You’ll feel ready to tackle anything that life throws at you! If you come early, you can check out the permanent exhibitions and the current special exhibition, ”Prints from the Age of Rodin”!
Hope to see you ladies at the Art Museum- until next time, Collegiettes!
