The Do’s ad Don’ts of Prez Ball

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Fairfield University’s annual President’s Ball is tonight, October 3rd. It creates quite the buzz for students on campus, and gives collegiettes something to look forward to. Prez Ball also stirs up drama every year, so here are a few dos and don’ts for the highly anticipated event:

1. DO dress up, but DON’T wear pumps.

Prez Ball is a chance to get more dressed up than you would on an ordinary Friday night. Get your glam on and choose a fun, flirty dress. As for wearing pumps, a word to the wise: they will sink into Bellarmine Lawn. Wear a pair of heels for pictures, but it might be smart to change into a nice pair of sandals, wedges, or flats before heading out for the night.

2. DO go with a group of friends, but DON’T worry about having a date.

Yes, this event might be called a ball, but don’t hold it up to the technicalities of one. Looking for a date or waiting for an invite can be stressful, so why not turn Prez Ball into a girl’s night out?

3. DO take a picture with Father Von Arx, but DON’T be sloppy.

No matter what pre-Prez Ball activities you choose to participate in, just remember that he is the President of Fairfield University and there will be photo evidence. Just let that sink in.

4. DO dance all night, but DON’T forget deodorant. And a hair tie.

You wouldn’t think you would have to worry about this, being that it’s technically outside and October, but the tent gets so hot. This means applying that extra layer of deodorant, or packing a mini stick in your bag, and throwing a hair tie on your wrist to contain the frizz is essential for a successful night.

5. DO have fun, but DON’T make it a night you literally can’t remember.

Every year, Fairfield students are hospitalized on the night of Prez Ball because of excessive drinking. Rumor has it that Public Safety will be on high alert this year as well. Everything in moderation, kids (except when it comes to the awesome food that will be there).
