After a long, controversial campaign; the 45th president of the United States was sworn in this Friday morning.
Donald Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, began the morning attending a church service at St. John’s church, located across from the White House. Trump later attended a tea ceremony as well.
Following the earlier morning event, Trump put his hand on the bible and was officially sworn in as President of the United States.
In his speech, President Trump began by thanking all those among him, and those who served before him; specifically President Barack Obama.
He then went on to say, “We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people,” explaining more so that Trump’s goal is to make this country great again.
In his address to the country, Trump also mentioned the importance of change and how this moment in time is meant for everyone by saying “This is your day.”
Trump’s speech provided hope that change will be a positive for all Americans regardless of what they believed in during the campaign period.
Later in the day, Trump attended the congressional inaugural committee luncheon and during the evening, attended the Liberty and Freedom Ball to end the historic day.Â
