Creative Pop Culture Inspired Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

‘Tis the season for PSLs and Halloween movie marathons with your besties.  It’s finally ~spooky season~ once again and we are totally here for it. TBH, there is really no better time of the year in college than Halloweekend — a weekend spent dressing up as whatever thrills you while having fun with your friends. Whether you’re thinking of dressing up with your #squad this Halloween or you’re choosing to dress up solo, here are some trendy and exciting pop culture inspired costumes to stir your imagination!

1. “God Is a Woman”

In response to Ariana Grande’s beautiful music video for “God is a Woman,” channel your inner #FierceAF girl boss persona and dress as this iconic image.  For a super easy look, paint parts of a nude bodysuit purple, blue, and yellow. Also, wear intense cat-eye eyeliner and purple lipstick with vines on your body.

2.  The Fab Five

The Fab Five has impacted the lives of many with their truly tear-jerking show Queer Eye. Dressing as this fab squad is a perfect group costume for you and your besties.  Dress as the member you feel you’re most similar to in style and personality. Wearing a bomber jacket as Karamo or accentuated fabulous hair for Jonathan will have you serving looks this Halloweekend!

3. Tide Pods

For a super easy costume this year, why not be a Tide Pod?  Tide Pods have been at the center of popular culture this year, so recognize the facts and embrace the phenomenon not by partaking in the #TidePodChallenge, but by dressing up as the detergent. Wear blue jeans and an orange shirt, or even create a shirt of your own featuring the Tide Pod design!

4. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

For this costume, grab your bae and dress up as the royal couple of the year.  Channel your inner English royalty style for a costume that will totally rock.

5.  Riverdale’s Betty and Veronica

For a killer bff costume, go as the iconic duo Betty and Veronica from the hit drama Riverdale. For an easy look, throw your hair into a perfect pony and wear a pink shirt with jean skirt for Betty, and a black dress with pearls for Veronica! I mean, every blonde needs a brunette bestie, right?!

Be sure to have a spooky-fun Halloween, Stags! Make sure you take lots of pics in your stellar costumes!
