Best Spring Break Ideas For a Girl on a Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Spring break is right around the corner, but you don’t have to go away or break the bank in order to have fun. Here are some tips and ideas for a spring break that will make your friends jealous!

1. Take classes that interest you:

Cooking, spin, and art are some of the activities you can try over break that will keep you busy and allow you to create some new hobbies. Try something outside your comfort zone! When was the last time you took a class just for fun?

2. Spend time with family:

Being away from home can be tough because you don’t have your closest support system cheering you on as you work your way through school. Make sure to have movie nights or grab a bite to eat with your fam like the good old days to show your love and appreciation, and hey! Who doesn’t love a free meal?!

3. Catch up on sleep or Netflix:

Let’s face it, school is tiring. Those 8 a.m. classes and late-night parties can take a toll on your body. Spend spring break catching some Z’s, as there’s nothing better than waking up and realizing that you can go back to bed knowing you have no obligations. When you do wake up eventually, make sure to binge watch some of your favorite shows on Netflix.

4. Spend time in a city close to you:

Whether it’s Boston or New York, each city has awesome restaurants and fun activities to take part in that won’t break the bank. Check out The Boston Calendar on Facebook for endless opportunities in my favorite city. If you’re looking to spend your whole spring break traveling in the city, it may be best to come up with a check list and/or itinerary for places to visit in order to make the most of your time and stay on budget!

5. Go hiking:

There are multiple places to go hiking throughout the New England area, so go out and explore the wilderness while getting in your cardio! Those summer bods are not gonna form themselves! This is also a great opportunity to have a picnic and get that epic Insta pic! #nature!!

6. Treat Yourself!

Make sure to treat yourself this spring break. Get your girls together and get your nails done. After a stressful two months, it’s important to take some time and reward yourself for all the hard work done so far, but also prepare for finals lurking in the distance. A little spa day with your girls isn’t as expensive as a vacation, but is just as fun!

7. See your hometown friends

Make sure to catch up with your friends who are also broke college students staying home for spring break. If you all go to different schools, there may be a chance you don’t have the same break. This is the perfect opportunity to go visit them and experience a different college setting, and parties – while also ~finally~ seeing your besties. Catch up, have a girl’s night, and gossip all night long!

8. Go to a club

Clubs are a fun way to let your hair down and let loose! Dancing is a great stress reliever, plus it’s always fun to go wild once in a while. There are a ton of clubs to visit, especially in the main cities.
