Haven’t been to a women’s basketball game all season to support your Stags? There are few chances left to catch this winning team, but there’s one that you should definitely attend! On Friday February 12, 2016, the Stags host Saint Peter’s at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall. It isn’t just an ordinary game. It is the annual Play4Kay game, which supports the Kay Yow Foundation. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund founded in memory of former North Carolina University head women’s basketball coach, Sandra Kay Yow, who passed away of breast cancer in 2009 after her third bout with the disease. This foundation raises money, awareness, and inspiration for women’s cancers.
Each participating team in the Play4Kay game will be wearing pink to show their support of the foundation. Local breast cancer organizations will also be in attendance at the game. A free student raffle will be done (every student that comes will be automatically entered) with prizes that include $25 to Captain’s Pizza and $25 to the bookstore. We will also give away free pink t-shirts!
This is the biggest remaining home game for our women’s game, so make sure you don’t miss out! See you there!
