The 9 Best Things About Going Home For Winter Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

As much as we love being at school with all of our friends, there is nothing quite like going home for a much-needed break. There really is no place like home, especially during the holidays, and here are a few reasons why:

Catching up with old friends Facetime is great, but it cannot compare to catching up with your friends in person.

Home cooked meals One of the best things about going home for the holidays is a break from the dining hall. At home you get to eat delicious food that someone is kind enough to make for you.

Sleeping in your own bed Nothing is better than sleeping in a bed that can actually fit all of your pillows and has a ~fresh~ set of sheets

Spending time with your siblings Siblings are the best friends you can have, and they will be there to sympathize when your parents start to get on your nerves

Driving Being able to come and go as you please is something you don’t really understand the value of until you go to college. Going home means you won’t have to call an Uber just to pick something up at CVS.

Being done with finals During break writing essays and studying for exams is substituted for napping and watching Netflix (until we go back and do it all over again).

Private bathroom No more awkward eye contact and small talk while you’re trying to brush your teeth. But the best part…. NO SHOWER SHOES!

Not setting an alarm There is absolutely no reason to wake up before 2 pm during break

Going to all your favorite hometown hotspots Everyone has his or her favorite local diner, coffee shop, pizza place, nail salon, and whatever else you can’t wait to go to as soon as you get home.
