8 Ways to Unwind & Celebrate Once Finals Are Over

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

It’s hard to believe that we are already at the end of the semester. Move-In Day feels like it was just yesterday and the holiday cheer is quickly approaching. But before we can enjoy cozy nights by the fire and hanging out with good old Santa Clause, final exams need to be passed.  Finals have had us up all night as we attempt to memorize and understand loads of information. Here are some ways to unwind:

  1. Exercise-

Hit the gym or even relax with some yoga. The endorphins released when you work out will definitely make you feel better! When you return to campus in January, hit the RecPlex to keep yourself in line with the stresses of beginning a new semester- its available to all full-time students for free, so why not take advantage of it?

Hang with friends-

Let loose and go out, or stay in and have a girls night. Friends are there to have fun and make us happy during the roughest times. Reunite with your friends at home who make you feel as if you never left. You could use some quality laughs after the countless hours you spent studying alone!

Eat some dark chocolate-

As quite the chocoholic myself, I know better than anyone that a sweet treat always relieves the tensions. If you consume dark chocolate that contains 70% cocoa or higher, it is actually quite nutritious with antioxidants!

Drive around with music and the windows down-

Sometimes you just need to belt out the words to your favorite song with some friends and feel the rush of cool air as you drive with the windows down. You will release the stress that has bottled up inside of you.

Bath bomb bath-

The famous bath bombs from Lush are definitely worth the hype. You can find a scent that pleases your senses and unwind in the warm bath. Cozy up and read a book for leisure or a magazine.

Take a nap and don’t feel guilty about it-

I know that every time I’m sleeping, I always feel as if I should be doing something more productive with my time. Now that the major exams have passed by, allow yourself to have a little break. You have about a month home, and you should definitely put aside some of that time for yourself because once you return to campus in January, the work will only start to pile up once again.

Binge watch Netflix-

Allow yourself to start that new series you’ve had your eye on all semester, but haven’t made the time for. Starting a new show on Netflix requires dedication, as the episodes get addicting, so take advantage of your time off to devote yourself to a series.

Retail therapy

Whether its online shopping or going to town, you can afford to indulge. As Blair Waldorf says, “Whoever said money doesn’t buy happiness didn’t know where to shop!”

Now you’re calm and relaxed, so you can go check your grades, right? Hope all of the hard work has paid off for you, good luck stags!
