8 Things To Thank Your Childhood Best Friends For

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

My childhood best friends will always be a part of my life in some way. Though it’s hard to keep in touch, as we all go to different colleges, and some different high schools, we always make a conscious effort to talk and make it work. We’ve been together through it all: good and bad moments, embarrassing moments, and even the right of passage through the awkward stage. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without them. I don’t thank them enough for all they have done for me, and the impact they have had and continue to have on my life. Here are some things we definitely should thank our childhood friends for.

Thank You for Always Having My Back

No matter what, I always know you will hear me out. Despite any circumstances, you have always stayed by my side through thick and thin, even if you did not agree with my decisions. I know that whenever I need you, you will always be there for me. I want you to know that I will always be there for you, too.

Thank You for Still Being My Friend…Even After I First Discovered Makeup

The proof is in the old Facebook pictures. How did I not know what too much blush was and better yet why didn’t you stop me?!

Thank You For Always Listening

I know you don’t personally know any of the people are at my college, but thank you for listening and know exactly who I am talking about. Whenever I am stressed about school, I know that you will be listening and offering advice about how to handle the situation. I will be forever grateful for our late night conversations about the future.

Thank You for Always Being Willing to Eat Junk Food and Talk About Nothing

Even though you say you’re on a diet ~ again~ thanks for eating the Lays potato chips with me anyway as we watch movies from the “good ole days”. *cough cough* The Lizzie McGuire Movie. It may have seemed like a little thing to pass the time, but those moments are some of my favorite moments to date.

Thank You for Always Acting Like No Time Has Passed When We Hang Out

I know we all have busy schedules and go to different schools, but I am glad that every time we see one another we can pick up like we just saw each other yesterday. I know that as we sit outside on the fly-infested patio eating my favorite cupcakes that you are my people and I wouldn’t change that for the world.

Thank You for Keeping My Secrets

We made it through middle school together and we all know that is the prime time to spill your best friends’ secrets. But you never told anyone that I liked “you know who” or that I was still afraid of the dark. I know that I can trust to take any of my secrets to the grave.

Thank You For Accepting Me Exactly for Who I Am

I know that you will never judge me and love me just the way I am. Thanks for supporting my shopping addiction, which you single-handedly saw happen right before your eyes. Always remember that you never have to hide who you are from me and that I will never ever judge you.

Thank You For Simply Being You

You’re awesome! I am so grateful for our friendship and would not be who I am today without you! They say that if you stay friends with someone for more than seven years then you’ll be friends for life. Well, we have way more than seven years under our belts, so I guess that means you’re stuck with me. I can’t wait for a lifetime of more memories.
