The 8 Stages of “My Diet Starts Tomorrow”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

You’re finishing the last piece of your favorite pizza from Pronto and suddenly you remember your past (three) New Year’s resolutions- lose a few pounds.  After taking one last bite, you sigh and tell yourself: “Okay. My diet officially starts tomorrow.”

1. Ready to start (and keep!) your new healthy lifestyle, you climb into bed and set your alarm for 8 o’clock.  “Perfect!” you think, “I’ll have just enough time to do some cardio at the gym, shower, and get ready for class.”  Well, soon enough, 8am rolls around, and..

2. The gym was a no-go this morning, but that’s okay.  You’ll just go after dinner! You’re about to be late to class, so instead of hitting up Einstein’s (per usual), you scarf down a quick rice cake. Yum?

3. The rice cake didn’t even hold you over for the first half of class, so you gulp down your water to try and suppress your stomach’s growls.  It works, but now you’re practically dancing through the halls on your way to the bathroom.

4. Your friends text you to get lunch in Barone, so you head over.  “Wow, the pizza looks pretty good today,” you think to yourself.  But you keep walking and head over to the salad bar.  No Italian dressing?  Looks like it’s just lettuce and chicken today, how appetizing.

5. You get back to your room to start on your homework.  You still don’t feel fully satisfied.  As you reach for the oreos, your spur of the moment fitspiration last night haunts you- you threw out all the junk food.

6. After scrolling through tumblr doing some homework, you decide it’s time to make a move to the gym.  But, since you’ve hardly eaten all day, you’re suddenly hit with a huge headache.  Looks like it’s nap time, instead.

7. You groggily wake up around 5:30 to twenty new texts in your group message.  “Guys, we should order chinese tonight.” Did somebody say chinese?!  SCORE!!  Blaming it on your period, you order all your favorite dishes.

8. Far too full to even consider walking to the RecPlex, you shower and curl up in bed.  So, today didn’t really go as planned.  But, hey, there’s always tomorrow right!?
