8 Last Minute Halloween Costumes You Can Find In Your Dorm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Halloweekend has arrived, and I am sure some collegiettes have procrastinated in getting a costume for this occasion. It’s probably too late to order costumes online, but there are many items already in your closet at school that you can make a costume with! There’s no need to take the Stag Bus into town to scour stores…Read on to see what costumes are hiding in your closet!

Black Swan “Nina Sayers”

If you want to be edgy and intense for Halloween, maybe dressing up as Nina Sayers from Black Swan is the perfect costume for you. To achieve Nina’s look you need a pair of white tights – sheer tights would be perfect- a black bathing suit or a black strapless shirt, and a black skirt or a tutu. Next you will need a jeweled headband, and if you don’t already have one it can be an easy DIY project. Make sure that your hair is pinned up in a bun so your headband will stay on! For makeup, you will need to have a pale face, an intense cat eye, and a bold red lip.

Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffanys

Such a classic movie and such an easy costume to pull out of your closet! All you need for this costume is a LBD, a statement necklace (think big gem stones or pearls), big statement earrings (again, think big gem stones), and black sunglasses with a structured frame. Hair and makeup is easy as well. You should put your hair put into a chignon and if you have bangs even better (but don’t stress if you don’t). Now for makeup, you will want to have a peachy-pink lip, mascara, darker eyeliner on your top lid, and finally a light line on your water line. There you have it…You’ve transformed into Holly Golightly in a matter of minutes!

Rosie the Riveter

This is such a fun and timeless costume that shows off how strong us collegiettes are…And this costume is right in your dorm! Firstly, grab your boyfriend jeans because they are going to keep your legs warm on the upcoming, chilly Halloween night! If you want to show some skin, opt for some high-waisted shorts or a skirt! Next, you will a chambray button up. You can choose to pair a light tank underneath or not. Wear your white Converse because they are the perfect all-American shoe and will complete this look. Grab a red headband, put your hair up, and tie the bandana in the middle section of your hair. For makeup, you should opt for a bold red lip and strong eyes. For a strong eye, we suggest doing a small wing and only doing eyeliner on the top lid and then a shimmery smoky eye!

Cowgirl

If you love the country lifestyle, then this is the costume for you. You’ll need your favorite dark wash skinny jeans, a flannel, and some cowgirl boots…How easy was that? For hair, French braid your hair into pigtails and tie a cute ribbon at the ends to match whatever color your flannel is. For makeup, keep it simple but, if you want some sass, do a light smoky eye and a fun lip gloss!

Daisy Duke

If you want to be a sexier cowgirl/country girl for Halloween, then Daisy Duke is perfect costume for you! You need a pair of denim cutoff shorts, cowboys boots or a strappy heeled sandal, a belt, and a fun crop top. For hair, loosely curl your hair and follow the same makeup suggestion for the cowgirl costume!

1920s Flapper

This is such an easy, glamorous, and chic costume to pull off.  For this costume, you need a sequined or fringe dress, a feather boa, and low heels. Your accessories should be layers and layers of pearl jewelry and a gemstone headband. You should curl your hair with tighter curls so that throughout the night they will become looser and it will be a glam moment with you headband. For your makeup, you should opt for a shimmery eye and a bold lip! You will be the most glamorous girl this weekend for sure!

80s Workout Girl

This is an energetic costume that is so easy to put together. To complete this look, you need color headbands to wear around your head, colorful Spandex, oversized off the shoulder sweaters, leg warmers, your running shoes, and huge earrings! You want your hair high for this costume…the higher the better! For makeup, you want bright eyes, rosy cheeks, and a really bright lip color—think bright pink shades. Such an easy fun costume, and it’s also a great group costume as well.

Risky Business

The last costume is inspired by Tom Cruise in Risky Business. All you need for this costume are Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses or a pair of square sunnies, a white button up dress shirt, white spandex, and white high socks! You can either keep your hair down or pull your hair back into a sleek pony and keep your makeup simple!

I dream of eating waffles with Amy Poehler and climbing to the top of Corporate America specifically in the fashion industry. Amy P hasn't responded to my emails, so in the meantime, I'm your typical college student who is majoring in Accounting. I'm a self-proclaimed Diet Coke and Twitter addict and I will never go a day without them. I hate the gym so don't look for me there.
