It’s official: finals season is here, and that means that the library is packed. So, here are 7 great places to study that aren’t the library!
On Campus:
1. Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry is a great place to study! There are comfy couches, snacks, and it’s generally quiet. It also has some rooms off to the side with whiteboards which is a great alternative if all the library group rooms are booked up. Everyone is welcome in campus ministry!
2. Classrooms
This one seems pretty obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t think of it. There are so many classrooms that are open around finals time and they have everything you need to create a great study powerhouse! You can even see if the room you’re taking your final in is open! Studies show that if you study in the same room you’re going to take a test in, you’ll be able to recall information better and faster! Take advantage of these open classrooms!
3. The Mezz or the BCC
The Mezz or the new chairs and tables in the BCC are other perfect places to study! With plenty of outlets and open space, you’ll definitely be able to get down to business. Plus, you’re in great proximity to the Stag and the Tully if you need a quick meal or snack break in between your study session.
Off Campus:
1. The Fairfield Public Library
You’ll have the same guaranteed quiet as the library on campus, plus some great resources, without having to get up at the crack of dawn to fight for your seat. If you don’t have a car on campus you can take the Stag bus straight there! The library is open from 9am-5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9am-9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 1-5pm on Saturdays.
2. The Bookstore
The downtown school bookstore is a great place to study. You can study in the Starbucks cafe area or head upstairs and work at one of the tables there. The bookstore is open 9am-9pm Monday thru Saturday, and 10am-6pm on Sundays. Plenty of time to get a lot of work done.
3. Las Vetas
A cute, edgy cafe in downtown Fairfield with great food, drinks, and most importantly, free Wi-Fi. The perfect atmosphere for prime productivity as long as you don’t mind spending a few dollars on coffee. Open from 6:30am-9pm Monday to Thursday, 6:30am-11pm on Fridays, 7:30am-11pm on Saturdays, and 7:30am-6pm on Sundays.
4. Starbucks
A bit farther down Post Road is another Starbucks that will be slightly less crowded than the bookstore. It’s open from 4:30am-10pm Monday to Friday, 5am-10pm on Saturdays, and 5:30am-9:30pm on Sundays, so if you’re an early bird, this is the ideal place for you!
Wherever you decide to study, remember to try your best and not sweat the small stuff. Good luck and may the curve be ever in your favor!
