While being single on Valentine’s Day may leave you without a “Netflix and chill” buddy, you can still curl up on the couch and watch a good movie that isn’t all gushy and emotional.

The perks of watching a movie alone include not having to share your popcorn or snacks, having the whole entire couch to yourself, not having to hear someone talk through the entire movie, and not having to provide any “chill” services during it either. (To those of you confused by “chill” services as part of “Netflix and chill,” I recommend you look that up).

So grab all the snacks that you want (maybe even a bottle of wine), a nice fuzzy blanket, and pick out one of these perfect singles movies to watch this Valentine’s Day. There’s no need for tissues, I promise.

1. Bridesmaids

Nothing says “I’m single,” like having the title of bridesmaid…for the eighteenth time.

This comedy tells the story of Annie who is named her BFF’s maid of honor and struggles to get her life together. This movie is hysterical and perfect for that miserable, single mood you are going to be on Valentine’s Day.

So don’t worry guys, Annie will be there right with you trying to figure out if she’ll one day have a happily ever after.

2. How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

Trust me on this one. Tactics in this movie may be useful one day, so this is definitely a must watch. Ben is a big time advertising executive and makes a bet that he can make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days. While Andie, a writer for a magazine, is assigned an article on how to lose a guy in 10 days.

The ending is a bit predictable–they realize they have true feelings…blah, blah, blah, but overall solid tactics to lose a guy. It definitely comes in handy for when you meet those creepers at the bar.

3. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Have you ever had an ex who you tried to forget about but then end up seeing him out in public with their new girlfriend? If yes, then this movie is basically about you.

After Peter’s breakup with his girlfriend, he decides to sleep with another woman for a year, and then take a vacation. When arriving at his destination, he finds out Sarah is vacationing there as well, with her new boyfriend. I’m sure you can only imagine what happens next.

4. The Great Gatsby

I’ve always been touched by the story of Gatsby mainly because he fought so hard for Daisy’s love and in the end he still ended up without her. This movie is perfect for singles because unlike every other love story, it does not have a happy ending.

Sometimes the person that you love so dearly may not love you in the same capacity back. Aside from that powerful semi-sappy message, the booze, dancing and Leonardo DiCaprio throughout the entire movie is sure to put you in a good mood.

5. 500 Days of Summer

This movie takes a different approach on catching feelings. What happens when the guy is the one falling deeply in love and the girl does not reciprocate those feelings? This movie is all about realizing that horrible breakups and not being in love yet are just positive signs that you have not found the right one yet.

6. Think Like A Man

This movie will not only make you laugh, but give you a better understanding of what guys are thinking and how crazy girls can really be. After a group of men realize their women have been using Steve Harvey’s advice book to get inside their heads, the men take action and use the advice from the book to turn the tables on their ladies.
