6 Fun Alternatives to Going Away for Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Since spring break is quickly approaching, you might be bummed out that you won’t be escaping the freezing cold temperatures and stress- but there is no need for that! Although we collegiettes may be dreaming of somewhere sunny and 75, there are still fun alternatives to make this spring break the best yet! So say no to Netflix and long naps for this spring break and go out and enjoy this much needed time off!

1. Have a Spa Day

After rough couple weeks of bitter cold and loads of homework, we collegiettes deserve a day to relax and be pampered. It can be as simple as just getting a manicure and pedicure or a facial and massage! Whatever you decide to get, make sure it is relaxing because you deserve it!

2. Go to the Movies

One sad part about being at college is that trips to the movies are, unfortunately, few and far between. So use this spring break to catch up on the latest movies like 50 Shades of Grey and The Duff. Get your movie theater butter popcorn ready, load up on candy, sit back and enjoy the movie!

3. Go Indoor Rock Climbing

If you are feeling a little adventurous and looking for something different, a day filled with indoor rock climbing may appeal to you. As well as being totally fun, it is also a great work out. So get climbing, collegiettes!

4. Paint a Canvas

During this long break, it might be time for us to channel our creative side and paint a canvas to hang in our dorm or even our bedrooms. There are so many different quotes and drawing that you can use to make a great new accessory to your dorm. It is also a fun idea for a girl’s night!

5. Have A Game of Laser Tag

Remember those 3rd grade birthday parties where you would go to an arcade/ party place and play laser tag? Remember how much fun it was? Well, who says you cannot do it this spring break? It is a fun and different activity to do with a group of friends on a cold winter day. So watch your back collegiettes and have fun!

6. Take a Cooking Class

It may be time to brush up on those cooking skills and take a cooking class! It will be fun to get a group of friends together and learn to cook something new. If you don’t want to splurge on a class, look up a tasty tutorial on YouTube. If there is food involved, you can count us in!
