5 Ways to Transition Your Wardrobe for Spring Despite the Cold

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

As March approaches and the snow is starting to finally disappear, we feel ready to put away those winter jackets for the rest of the year. Although as we know, on the days when those freezing winds hit, we’re tempted to put on those heavy coats and wool sweaters. During the spring seasons, dressing right is difficult. That’s why we need to adapt to transitional dressing! We put together 5 tips that will be your guide to surviving this winter to spring wardrobe transition. Get ready for light layering, lighter knits, and leather jackets & trenches, Ladies!

1. Trench coats are a cute way to elevate your style this spring! They are super lightweight and perfect for layering over sweaters and long sleeves. You’ll forget all about your heavy winter jackets when wearing this coat.

2. Swap out your heavy pants and warm boots for a colorful pair of tights or socks because nothing screams spring more than pops of bright colors! You can incorporate them with fun heels or low booties for a more casual look. This style will look great with a midi skirt this spring!

3. During your spring transition period, a sweater & midi skirt is the way to go! It’s the perfect combination because a sweater will keep you from being chilly on those colder days, and a skirt is a perfect way to welcome the spring season.

4. Make sure your wardrobe this spring includes a high waisted pair of light wash jeans. These are perfect for a walk in the park or running errands. They can even be dressed up with heeled boots and a nice shirt or sweater for a date. The best part is these can be worn in any type of weather, which is essential for your transition period.

5. White is a staple color of spring. For a casual yet girlie look, white sneakers are your go-to footwear during your spring transition. These shoes will be sure to match with absolutely anything!

Happy early spring fashionistas! XOXO
