Fairfield University hosted another successful Alumni Family Weekend. It’s the perfect mid-semester weekend to catch up with your loved ones. Here are 5 of my favorite activities for this time of year!

1.Eat: One of the best parts of the weekend is the food! Purchasing some food truck vouchers from the university and spending your day walking around and sampling different treats from pizza to hotdogs to waffles to cupcakes and beyond. Alternatively, choose one of the many tasty spots in town and show your family the fine cuisine of Fairfield- Molto is my personal favorite. Family and food can cure any mid-semester stress!

2.Drink: Head to the beer garden on campus with some of your ~washed up~ Fairfield alumni friends or your family. Maybe even show mom and dad the Grape where it all goes down!

3.Pumpkin Picking/Apple Picking: AFW is scheduled at a perfect time for fall festivities, like pumpkin/apple picking. Grab some apple cider donuts and crisp apple pie to indulge in when you get home. Silverman’s Farm in Easton, CT (about 20 minutes from campus) is one of my favorite spots!

4.Go to the beach: Even though it might be a bit chilly, your family can appreciate quality time walking on the beach together, especially considering the close proximity of the beach to campus!

5.Shopping: My mom and sisters enjoy coming shopping when they visit me because there are so many boutiques around town to choose from. My sisters personally love telling people back at home that they got their outfits in CT, rather than a place near us that everyone shops at.

There are so many things to do both on-campus and off-campus during Alumni Family Weekend. Make the most of your time with your visitors and plan ahead for their next visit!

I am from Long Island, New York. I currently attend Fairfield University and I am pursuing a major in Finance and minors in Mathematics and Economics.
