The 4 Best Things About Colder Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. There’s a minor yet obvious shift in the temperature and you slowly realize the nights are becoming cooler and the days are becoming shorter. Although some of us dread the dead of winter and the brisk cold morning walks across campus, here are the four best things about cold weather that will make you think otherwise.

1.  Comfy Sweaters When it comes to the cold, there is nothing more comforting and cozy than throwing on a big sweater after a long day of enduring the seasonal change. Pair your sweater with some leggings, a cup of coffee and Netflix and you are all set.

2. Warm Drinks As if it isn’t obvious enough already, as collegiettes we are obsessed with any seasonal drink we can get our hands on. From pumpkin spice lattes, peppermint mochas, hot chocolate, and salted caramel cappuccinos – drinking one of these cups of pure bliss is always a perk of the cold weather.

3. Comfort Food As the temperature starts dropping, indulging in some classic comfort food is a sure way to get through the cold weather. For healthy options if you’re craving pasta and soup, opt for whole-wheat with winter vegetables and help yourself to a second serving, guilt-free.

4.Lazy Weekends Waking up on weekend mornings as snow gently flutters against your window or leaves scatter across the ground causes all collegiettes to want to stay curled up in bed in their pajamas. The beauty of the cold weather is that it is possible to do this, without feeling like you are missing out on the sunshine and beach weather.

So collegiettes; when it comes to the cold weather don’t be so quick to wish for summer. Do yourself a favor and embrace this relaxation opportunity! Throw on a comfy sweater, grab your favorite warm drink, cook your most beloved comfort food and kick your feet up in front of the fire as the temperature drops.
