30 Signs You’re From Long Island

1.     You become disgusted when people from other states claim that their bagels are better… or their pizza

2.     Little Vincent’s is your go-to place for drunk food & cold cheese pizza saves your life on the reg

3.     Ralph’s Italian Ices is your favorite dessert place, and you count down the days after it closes until it opens again in March for the warmer months

4.     You have ventured to Long Beach to get one of those really cool “Diner By the Sea” milkshakes

5.     Seeing a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks on every street corner or in every shopping center is typical

6.     You’re obsessed with the beach, and even more obsessed with the fact that you can get to a beach in less than 30 minutes from any point on LI

7.     You CRINGE at the term “grinder” or “sub.” It’s called a hero people!

8.     You get genuinely frustrated when people say that the Jersey Shore or Cape Cod > The Hamptons

9.     You consider anything in New York that is not Long Island “upstate” even though deep down you know it’s not

10. You have watched “Nassau County State of Mind” and have related to at least one aspect of it

11. You have nail/hair salons EVERYWHERE

12. You have stalked the crap out of Theresa Caputo, better known as the Long Island Medium, and have even gotten a picture with her at one point

13. You have used the term JAP (Jewish American Princess) to describe at least 1 person in your life

14. You never really feel lost or like you’re in the middle of nowhere because you can most likely get to a major highway in seconds

15. You’ve been to the Americana, and get sad every time you go because of how expensive everything is

16. Three words: Long Island Expressway: the easiest roadway to navigate LI (aka your lifeline)

17.  You are a fan of the term “brunch,” and you frequently attend this on Sundays

18. A famous celebrity has lived in or near your town

19. You can’t start your Saturday off without a BEC and a large iced coffee

20. Deli’s are your favorite places to get said BECs and iced coffees

21. You have been a “north shore person” and have talked shit about the “south shore,” or vice versa

22. Umberto’s, Ivarone, and Mario’s are apart of your weekly food vocabulary

23. You have spent a drunk night or two at the Hofstra strip

24. Drinking on the LIRR is a hobby of yours

25. You never really go to NYC, unless you’re going to a real club/dinner experience or to take a pic with the Christmas Tree
