It may not feel like it, but spring break is a lot closer than you think. I’m always that lame friend in my group who doesn’t go anywhere cool for spring break. If you are staying home like me, this definitely does not mean that your time off will be terrible! A week long, relaxing break will be much needed by March, especially after midterms. I’m here to help you with ways to stay busy yet still relax during your ~staycation~.
1. Watch Netflix Start off your spring break by catching up on your favorite Netflix series. I know at school I always try to make time for Netflix, but it usually doesn’t happen with my busy schedule. I am definitely looking forward to snuggling up with my favorite blanket and catching up on my favorite shows. Better yet, Fuller House comes out right before spring break! It’s the perfect time to start a new series.
2. Catch Up with High School Friends and Family Spring break is the perfect time to reconnect with friends who are home and with your family. Unfortunately, I don’t think any of my friends will be home, but I do plan on hanging out and taking it easy with my parents and sister. I may even plan a few road trips to visit some of my BFFs at school. Oh and I don’t know about you, but I’m hanging out with my dogs…a lot.
3. Go to Your Favorite Restaurants Near Your Hometown One of my favorite activities to do when I go home for breaks is to reunite with all of my favorite foods from my favorite places. I’m from Long Island, and I take pride in my bagels and pizza. Also, I plan on going to one of my favorite places to get breakfast and lattes that are to die for, called Crazy Beans, with my mom.
4. Get A Haircut or Dye Your Hair I can’t wait to go home to dye my hair. I haven’t done anything to my hair since the fall and I need a change. Getting your hair done is super fun and also calming. A new look for the warmer spring months is a must.
5. Go Shopping for New Clothes for the Warmer Weather Ahead I can’t wait to go shopping for new clothes over break. Taking the bus to the mall here is a hassle, so I can’t wait to be able to grab my keys and drive to the mall.
6. Enjoy Your Parents Home Cooked Meals
By spring break I know I will DEFINITELY be sick of Barone’s dinners. I can’t wait to eat my mom’s home cooked meals every night and not have to take a trip to the dining hall.
7. Get A Manicure or Pedicure (or Both!!) I definitely plan on getting a mani/pedi over break. It is extremely relaxing and I always feel so good after leaving the nail salon.
8. Work Out Maybe working out isn’t your idea of relaxing, but it helps me unwind. It allows my body to release any stress I’m feeling. Head to your local gym, go for a walk or run, or go on a bike ride this spring break.
9. Read A New Book Picking up a new book this spring break is a good way to pass the time and keep your brain going. Reading is a great way to relax, especially in the comfort of your own bed.
10. Bake I love to bake, but I’m restricted from baking at school since we don’t have our own kitchen. I can’t wait to go home to my kitchen over spring break and bake away.
