10 Reasons to be Thankful for Fairfield

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

As Halloween drifts away and the season of thanks is upon us, what more is there to be thankful for than the beautiful, magnificent, and perfect place that is Fairfield University?  Here are just a few of the multitude of reasons why it is so easy to fall in love with and be thankful for Fairfield U.

1. Let’s Go To The Beach

It’s an easy, breezy five-minute drive from campus to the beach.  Only so many people have the ability to brag to their friends that their college is (practically) on the beach!

2. Seniors Can Live On The Beach

Four years of on-campus housing? As if! Fairfield allows senior students to spend their last year as a Stag ~living on the beach~.  Zoey 101’s Pacific Coast Academy has nothing on us!

3. Downtown Dining

You don’t need much more in life than a nice Italian dinner at Molto, or a quick stop at Pronto for a Caesar salad to help rejuvenate you for the rest of the school week. We are so lucky to have so many amazing restaurants in Downtown Fairfield!

4. Location, Location, Location!

Feeling restless and need to escape the “campus bubble” feel?  An hour and a half train ride is all it takes for a girl to get to NYC for a day of shopping and good eats.

5. Small Class Sizes

Fairfield’s student-faculty ratio of 12:1 makes it easy for students to get to know their professors well and ultimately excel in class.  Yet some students prefer lecture halls where there are 700 students and the professor doesn’t even know their name…

6. Giants/Pats Rivalry

While we may not have our own football team, attending a school split between New Englanders and New Yorkers/New Jerseyans creates an exciting professional sports rivalry that not many schools can boast about.

7. Rec-Plex

Working out just got a whole lot easier with the beautiful Rec-Plex. Not feeling cardio or lifting weights? Play racquetball, swim, or do some yoga! The Rec Plex also offers a variety of classes, ranging from spin to barre. It’s super easy to get your heart pumping with such a variety of options.

8. The Stag

Chicken tenders and fries combo during meal swipe hours. Enough said.

9. Everything On Campus Is Within Prime Walking Distance

While the walk to DSB may ~feel~ like miles away, it is completely doable and worth losing extra calories!

10. Small School = Tight-Knit Community

Have no fear, you will never feel invisible with Fairfield’s undergrad student body of 4,000. Being able to wave to friends on your way to class is a homey feeling that few schools can provide. Take advantage of our class size and get to know your fellow Stags!
