Envision your typical stressed out morning: You wake up with your mind on what seems to be 100 things, dwelling on the paper due tomorrow and the tests you have to study for. Finally, you muster the strength to get out of bed and conquer the day ahead. With your eyes half open, you change and find yourself running out the door to the nearest Starbucks. Once the caffeine kicks in, you feel bionic…until you go to sleep that night and the cycle repeats itself.

Does this sound familiar, collegiettes?  Yes, that Venti iced coffee was a great solution to your fatigue, but it was only temporary, along with the other poor habits we’ve all sadly developed as college students. It’s easy to lose sight of the little things that contribute to our personal well being, although they make a “trenta” sized difference in our lives.

Here are a few reminders of healthy habits all collegiettes need to have:

1. Keep a routine.Having an efficient schedule is the key to success and helps maintain organization.

2. Walk as much as possible. The elevator is not your friend…and neither is driving to a class that is one minute away.

3. Wake up each day with a positive mind. You’d be surprised how much one motivational thought can transform your day and perspective.

4. Be a leader.Do what you want to do, not what everyone else deems right. Having an independent voice is an essential quality to have.

5. Don’t skimp on the water.H20 is a girl’s best friend. Staying hydrated keeps your mind and body energized and at it’s best at all times.

6. Catch plenty of Z’s and wake up earlier. We’ve heard it time and time again; sleep is one of the healthiest habits to have. Go to bed early and wake up early to make the most of your time.

7. Never miss a doctor’s appointment.Maintaining physical health is first and foremost the most important favor you can do for yourself.

8. Devise work loads. We’ve all been there. Being overwhelmed is negative 100 on our list of favorite things. Don’t put too much responsibility on your plate at once. It’s better to perfect a small amount of projects than slack on too many.

9. Take time for yourself. There is nothing wrong with a Netflix binge here and there, or a mani/pedi on the weekends. #treatyourself.

10. Keep in touch with your family. There is no one who loves you as much and knows you as well as your family does. Call them daily for advice, to catch up, or simply just talk. You’ll be happy you did!
