On Wednesday, December 4, Rohr Chabad at F&M sponsored horse and buggy rides for free for students on campus as a way to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. To make it extra special, there was a menorah strapped to the top of the buggy and students shouted “Happy Hanukkah” to everyone who passed by. The rides went all around the College and the off-campus dorms as well.

In a world filled with technology, it’s nice to things done that are a bit more old-fashioned. It’s also really nice to bring the past into the present in a cool and new way. This event, which was inspired by the success of car-top menorah parades organized by Chabad centers around the world, had the Chabad on Campus serving Franklin & Marshall College try something different this year and deliver the light of Hanukkah by horse and buggy. The image of a menorah atop a horse and buggy riding across campus was one that students will remember for a very long time.

Tell us readers: Did you see the horse and buggy going around campus?
