As the nights get colder and darker and the warm wooly jumpers and bobbly hats start to come out, it is inevitable that we are all starting to look forward to the best part about the winter season: Christmas! Whilst it is true that nothing beats Christmas Day with all the excitement of Santa coming and the anticipation of being so full you can’t move for a good few days, there are many things which you can do in Exeter to get in the festive spirit before the big day! The best thing is that these start in the middle of November so we can really spread out the excitement. So here’s just a few things you can do before you go home fo the holidays!Â
1) The Christmas Lights turn on:
The first sign that Christmas is on the way are the lights down the high street. Don’t miss them being turned on 21st November. With plenty of Christmassy music and entertainment this is the perfect way to start the Christmas season, not an event to be missed!
Â
2) Firehouse Mulled Wine:
Nothing beats a trip to Firehouse on a cold winter’s night and it is given a Christmassy touch in December with the introduction of Mulled Wine. What could be more Christmassy than curling up in a cosy room with a warm tipple!
3) RAG Ice Skating:
We aren’t always lucky enough to get snow in Exeter but fortunately RAG give us the opportunity to pretend we are in a cooler climate for an hour and really get into the Christmassy feel with their ice rink outside the forum. A chance to show off your skills or just have fun with friends!
4) Christmas Market:
The Ultimate in the Exeter Christmas Experience. Head down to the Cathedral Yard to peruse Christmassy crafts and hopefully pick something up for that difficult relative. If not just enjoy the mulled wine and crepes as well as the copious amounts of other treats on offer!
5)Â HCX Christmas Masquerade Dinner:
Finally, the most exciting event in the HCX Calendar, the Christmas Dinner! A chance to dress up in your party dresses and masks and enjoy a fun filled evening with everyone before we all head home for the Christmas break.
So there you have it, a guide to how to truly engage in the Exeter Christmas spirit and make the most out of the best holiday season!
