Top 5 Fragrances to Take You Back to Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

In the midst of January, the darker nights and the freezing air is a little bit too much to bare. For some of us, all we can think about is when the summer sun will return. So to transport you back to the warmer months, here are some of the sweetest summery fragrances to add to your winter wish list.

1) Bronze Goddess by Estée Lauder

The ultimate in summer fragrances, Bronze Goddess is every essence of summer bottled. Notes of coconut, bergamot, sandalwood and amber combine to bring you the familiar memories of sun-cream, sand and warm sunshine from every beach day you’ve ever had.

2) Acqua di Gioia by Giorgio Armani

If you love citrus, energetic fragrances and memories of the ocean then this is the scent for you. With notes of lime, mint and brown sugar it is both light and citrus with a warm spice, exactly the same ingredients as that delicious cocktail, a Mojito. It transports you straight to Italy where most of its ingredients herald from, even on the coldest day in winter.

3) Rose by Paul Smith

Everything about this fragrance is quintessentially English. The rose at the scent’s heart was cultivated and given by Paul’s wife to him as a birthday gift to create this sweet scent. Despite the fact that the perfume was first presented at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2006, its light and delicate fragrance is far from the potency implied by its name; with a fresh delicate feel this fragrance is perfect for everyday use.

4) Coeur de Fleur by Miller Harris

Miller Harris is a top end fragrance brand and while you do pay rather a bit more than for most other fragrances, you are paying for high quality. Coeur de Fleur is another scent that perfectly blends fruity and floral as well as vanilla and amber in its base notes, evoking memories of warm summer nights.

5) Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs

Daisy Dream is the latest addition to the Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance family. It retains the essences of the original popular fragrance Daisy but is lighter and fruitier. This comes from a combination of the heart notes of jasmine and blue wisteria, and the top notes of blackberry, grapefruit and pear. It’s perfect for reminiscing about summer as it is neither too citrus nor too overpoweringly floral.
