Things to Give up for Lent (With a Positive Twist)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Whilst you might say now that you won’t eat chocolate for the next forty days, we all know it’s much easier said than done, especially when the Forum shop starts calling your name once deadline panic sets in.

Lent is traditionally a time of strict self-moderation, but can this just make you feel a bit, well, miserable? HCX have decided to come up with alternative things you might try to give up, which will hopefully have a more positive impact on your life!

1)    Procrastination – it’s an issue most students face at this time of the year! Not sure if it’s entirely possible to give up completely, but worth a go!

2)    Social Media – again VERY difficult to give up entirely, but might help with the procrastination problem if you just pop your phone in your bag whilst in the library

3)    Negativity – I for one am going to try and shift those bad thoughts and replace them with a good attitude to get me through the second half of term

4)    Moaning – we all do it! This one fits in with the negativity, if you can curb your complaining it’s amazing how much better you feel!

5)    Arguing – also going to just put you in a bad mood!

6)    Clutter – take ten minutes to sort out your desk/under the bed/your wardrobe and the impact on  how you feel can’t be bad
