Tested: Elegant Touch Little Mix Nail Wraps

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

So you’re getting sick of boring block-coloured nails? Us too!  But unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with the artistic eye and steady hand that quirky cool nail pens call for and, let’s be honest, with 9am lectures and deadline’s approaching who’s got the time?! Cue nail wraps. One of the newest trends on the nail scene, these easy-to-use stickers seem like the answer to our naked nailed prayers, promising to add something a little different to your look. Here at Her Campus, we’re excited. Are they as easy to use as promised? Or will we have the same blood-curdling, hair-pulling frustration as we have on our third (okay, fifth) attempt at correctly applying our falsies?

This week, we’ve been lucky enough to try and test Little Mix’s newest launched product created by Elegant Touch. The ladies, each with their own personal style, have created nail designs to reflect any girl’s image, from the more feminine to those with a little rock in them.

At first look, Perrie’s black and red wraps with stud and skull embellishment seem a bit daunting, and we’re wondering how wearable they really are. But once applied, it’s clear that the grunge glam look is perfect for the Exeter girl who wants to show a little of her wild side.

For best results, we recommend you begin by filing your nails to whatever shape you prefer; whether you like a rounded or a squared off nail. The wraps also have curved bottoms, so we suggest you use your favourite nail cream and push those cuticles back for the best look, or if not soak them in some warm water. Then it’s just a case of applying a clear base coat (not included in the pack) and choosing which nails fit best.

The pack comes with the nail wraps themselves, a mini nail file, and an instruction booklet that’s fairly straight forward. “Apply base coat and allow time to dry”. Check! “Select correct size and carefully peel from the sheet” Check! Now comes the trickier part. It took us a good few minutes to decide which wrap should go on each nail, and about the same time to ensure they were accurately aligned on the nail itself. So moving on… “Use nail file to file away the excess”. Not as easy as it sounds. We would recommend using some small nail scissors or clippers to trim away the excess nail wrap, and then neaten up the edge with a more substantial nail file of your own, as the plastic material puts up a bit of a fight to the fairly meagre one provided.  We were tempted to add a glossy top coat but are assured by the instructions not to as the wraps are pretreated with UV light.

Overall here at HCX, we loved these nail wraps! You might not find the perfect fit for your nail shape or size, but you’ll get pretty close, and they’re pretty easy to apply. Just press on and smooth down. If you get it wrong first time (we did too!) don’t worry,  you can always re-place them and if you go too far wrong there are 20 wraps in the pack so you’ll have spares. Just the thing to spice up your style, rock these nail wraps from 9am lectures to Arena dancefloor.

If the grunge-glam look isn’t your style, check out the other styles from the Little Mix girls –  and be sure to let us know what you think!
