Names: Anna Clarke, Fran Barberis and Immi Bodimeade

What is RAG week?

Anna: RAG is an organisation on campus that is dedicated to raising money and awareness for nominated charities. This year our charities are:
• Force – Cancer Charity
• New Life Foundation – a charity for people with disabilities
• Devon Rape Crisis Services
• Isaac House – an orphanage in Uganda

Fran: RAG week is a week in the term dedicated to raising awareness and money as well as the profile of RAG: it is packed with events and should be great fun! This term it’s running between the 5th and 11th of November. We’re hoping to beat last year’s total of £10,000 – it would be amazing if we could do that!

So what is going on in RAG week?

Immi: We’re going to have an Ice Rink which is sponsored by Timepiece! It’ll be outside the Great Hall on the Upper Piazza and will cost £5 for students. It’s going to be open from 10am until 7pm apart from on Thursday when it’s going to be open late – from 1pm until 9pm.
Fran: As well as this Base Camp is going to be open from 11.30am until 2.30pm outside the Forum – come and say hello! Here we’re going to be advertising our charities, selling tickets for the events and holding a raffle. One of the prizes is going to be a Tony and Guy haircut – make sure you don’t miss out.
Anna: On Monday there’s going to be a market with both local and national companies, for example, selling fudge, vintage clothes, coffee and hot chocolate, handmade iPod cases and Mammal Swag clothing. We’re also selling Ottery St Mary tar barrels tickets for the Monday night (text 07814922576 if you want to buy some!).
Fran: I’m really looking forward to the Exeter Invades Bristol night on Wednesday night (only 20 tickets left – email igb201@exeter.ac.uk to secure yours!) and the Bake Sale on Tuesday.

What can you tell me about the SSB launch party?!

Immi: This is going to be such a great event! Tickets sold out within 12 minutes, it was incredible! The theme for SSB is going to be announced that night – it should be fairly obvious since the castle will be all kitted out to match the theme. There will be burlesque dancers as well on the launch night and many things going on inside and outside the castle.
Which event are you most excited about?
Fran: Definitely the SSB launch party and the Ice Rink! We’ve never done anything like this before so it’s so exciting to have the Ice Rink on campus, especially since it’s coming up to the festive season, we’ll start to feel all Christmassy.
Anna: It’s always scary to do something completely new but we’re hoping that as many people as possible are going to get involved, have some fun and support RAG.

How did you get involved with RAG week?

Anna: Last year I was on the RAG sub-committee and helped the RAG week co-ordinators: I loved it so much I’m back again this year! I reckon that when I look back at uni I won’t look back at my degree but I’ll look back at my time on RAG: it’s been amazing so far, especially since I don’t think I’ll ever do anything like this again.
Fran: I was a Frep last year, so I’ve been part of the RAG family since day one. The committee are great: so fun and it’s great getting so many students involved. Freshers’ Week went really well. It’s been one of the best way to meet new people: we even have Freshers’ and post-grad students on our sub-committee. I’m so glad I got involved!
Immi: Also, on the Saturday we’re going into the city centre with buckets to raise money for the Poppy Appeal – it’s going to be Noah’s Arc themed, bring a bucket and help us raise money girls!

How can the HCX readers get involved?

Immi: By coming to our RAG week events (see the Upcoming Events Page for details!).
Anna: Get your skates on – come Ice Skating with us – or even come and say hello at Base Camp!
Fran: Next year the girls can apply for RAG committee: you have to be voted in, but we’re always looking for people to join us. Also, you can still sign up for RAG this year: every £1 from membership makes a huge difference.

Is there another RAG week this year?

Fran: Yeap! 11th to the 16th February, so next term!

So have you guys organised this all on your own?!

Anna: No no! We’ve had SO much help from our wonderful sub-committee! There are only 12 of them but they’ve put in so much effort, it’s been great! We’re excited to see what they come up with events-wise for the next RAG week.

Girls look out for RAG and Her Campus working together next term… something exciting is in the pipeline!
