Even though it may should silly, one of the best times to collate your summer wardrobe is in the winter as, the majority of stores have sitewide sales in which their old season’s clothes are slashed to half the price. So, whether it be a pretty dress to wear through the streets of Paris, some denim shorts to throw on over a bikini on the way to a beach in Greece or, a pair of sandals that can be worn to explore both the local markets of Barcelona and the local restaurants and bars, now is the time to look!

A personal favourite of mine is Zara as, their summer pieces never fail to strike the perfect balance between chic and comfort and, most importantly, come at a reasonable price point. With their winter sale coming currently in full swing, their previous season’s pieces are heavily reduced and, I personally, have taken this as a sign to start my summer 2021 wardrobe! With a holiday booked to, hopefully, go to Rome in late May, I decided to pick up some items to wear when exploring the Italian city and for the cooler nights when relishing in all the pasta and pizza I can eat! A wardrobe classic is a black silk/ satin dress as its flattering yet forgiving shape hangs off the body effortlessly. This would be perfect for dressing from day to night as its effortless silhouette keeps you cool during the day and classy in the evening plus, throwing a blazer over your shoulders is a great way to stay looking classy even when the temperature drops. Moving away from the undeniable simplicity of a black dress, visiting an Italian city in late spring provides the perfect opportunity for filling your suitcase with a multitude of soft florals whether that be in the form of a dress, midi skirt or a colourful two piece! A matching set is definitely something to consider as it can be worn in multiple ways: as a stylish co-ord or by mix and matching them with items already in your wardrobe.

It is all well and good having your outfits covered but when going away, selecting the right pair of shoes is definitely something that needs to be carefully considered! In the European summer heat a pair of good sandals is an essential and, with extensive collections to choose from, the online high street can be a little daunting. Guaranteed success comes from the store Mango, their style rooted in simplicity and yet offering a twist to classic favourites. Additionally, the quality of their pieces ensures that they stand the test of time and allows you to invest in a pair of sandals that can emerge from your wardrobe year after year.

With these style pointers in mind as well as the extra downtime that accompanies a lockdown, why don’t you use this article as a platform to start making some outfit collages that make the beaches, sunsets and bars not so far from reach!
