Here at HCX, we don’t believe in tearing others down for their style choices, so no “Worst Dressed Celebrities” here, but instead, we thought that we’d share a few of our favourite looks from the red carpet at the 2016 Academy Awards. The whole night was a celebration of some of the best actors and actresses in the business, and rightly so, as each one is extremely talented! On the night there were some absolutely stunning dresses worn by a range of successful actresses, all designed by hugely talented designers, but we’ve picked just 5 of the best.

Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse was nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Brooklyn, and it’s clear that her sense of style could definitely win some awards. Wearing a Calvin Klein dress, Saoirse looked elegant in the sparkling jade green dress, paired with deliberately mismatched emerald and white earrings. Proving that blonde hair and deep green is a match made in heaven, this dress suited her so well.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett, also nominated in the category for Best Actress for her role in Carol, took glamour to the next level with this Armani dress. The seafoam gown was delicately covered in blue and white feathers and flowers – a perfect colour choice for her blonde hair and pale skintone. The capped sleeves and long train made this dress a showstopper on the red carpet, and for good reason.

Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her part in the Best Picture winning Spotlight, and the talented actress wore a beautiful dress by August Getty Atelier. Just like Saoirse, Rachel chose a deep green dress which complimented her blonde hair. The halter-neck dress featured a thigh-high leg split and long train, along with an open back. Rachel found a perfect balance between elegant and completely current, and looked amazing.

Sophie Turner

Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner made a statement with her sustainable dress designed by Galvan, a muted pale green dress which made her red hair stand out beautifully. She paired her dress with silver Louboutin heels and Tiffany jewellery. The dress itself was made out of light fabric, also featuring a thigh-high leg split, and a boned corset-style bodice.

Priyanka Chopra

Quantico actress and global philanthropist Priyanka Chopra looked stunning on the red carpet, wearing a Zuhair Murad dress and Monique Lhuillier shoes. The dress was a strapless, mermaid-style sheer gown, with an intricate white floral design. The elegant dress featured a metallic belt around the waist which was a clever contrast to the classic gown, and Priyanka paired the look with a deep lip and matching clutch.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners, and these 5 looks are just some of the many winners of the red carpet from the 88th Academy Awards. Now Leo has his Oscar, it’s time to look forward to next year.
