So you’ve got the costume, you’ve got the wig, you’ve even got the facepaint, but have you considered how you’re going to paint those nails? If not then don’t panic, this Halloween Her Campus has got you covered! We’ve come up with six designs of varying difficulty to suit you, whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned pro. Don’t be seen dead (or un-dead) without them!

Scarily Simple

1) These nails are great to get you started out and use the staple Halloween colours! Apply two coats of your chosen base colour. We used No.7’s Stay Perfect in Tangy as we fancied a pumpkin inspired pigment for this design.
2) Once the two coats are dry you can use any nail art pen to start painting your stripes, but we chose Black Night from Models Own. Use the thin brush to paint the outline of your stripes, and then fill them in – eerily easy!

Vamp It Up

1) Again, paint two coats of your base varnish to ensure a solid colour. For this design we have used Red Wine by Barry M.
2) All you have to do now is go ahead and paint on white tips like you would for a normal French manicure. We applied two coats of the white from the French Manicure collection by Elegant Touch.
3) Finally use a white nail art pen (or even a cocktail stick) to draw on little fangs to give your mani a vampish twist!

Shimmering Shadows

1) This is a gorgeous design that will add a bit of sparkle to any costume! Start off with a pastel shade (we chose Barry M in Mint Green, nice and spooky!) and apply two coats.

2) Next, take your black nail art pen and get creative with some Halloween inspired silhouettes. These could be anything from cauldrons and pumpkins to moons and stars!

3) Finally, grab your favourite glitter nail polish (ours is Models Own Hedkandi Ibiza Mix) and dab it around your designs to add that spell-binding sparkle.

Wicked Webs

1) We felt that this cool design deserved to stand out so we used two coats of a pale base colour. Pearl Drop by Chanel provided a spooky shimmer we just couldn’t resist.
2) Bring out that trusty black nail art pen and start by drawing six lines on your nail using the centre of your nail as an axis; this will provide the skeleton of your cobweb.
3) Then, using our pictures as a guide, work from line to line drawing mini curves. Keep repeating this process until you reach the edge of your nail, et voila!

Now you know, off you go! Remember: these nails are by no means the be all and end all of haunting Halloween nails, you can get inspiration from anything so get creative and get gruesome!
