So after a long night of dancing at the Lemmy last night, or even just a girls night in, what better for your Sunday afternoon procrastination than a catch up on yesterdayâs shows from London Fashion Week? I hope that you all got a bit more work done than me yesterday (currently thinking of changing my degree title from Law to âProcrastinationââŠ) so if you didnât have time to watch the shows live online, here are yesterday’s highlights!
Yet another day of amazing shows graced London yesterday (next year there will be a seat with my name on it, perhaps front row next to a less pregnant Peaches Geldof!) and even more trends emerged from the catwalks. A/W 12/13 is set to be a massive fashion hit no matter what your style: from Acquascutumâs androgynous monochrome collection to the bold prints from Issa London, Saturdayâs showing showed that anyone can be fashionable this coming winter â perhaps Longbrook Street will become the new Kingâs Road!
Pick of the Day: Temperley Londonâs stunning Renaissance collection made me even more envious of those who were lucky enough to be in London this weekend. Tempereley â now associated with the Duchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa (I donât care which one I look more like as long as itâs one of themâŠ) â has surpassed herself with her recent collection. It. Is. Amazing. This simple cream dress (see left) has been embellished with gorgeous silver lace and has transformed it into an even more stunning dress. Simple, understated and yet incredibly elegant, this is what every girl aspires to be â the âyeah, I totally just rolled out of bed and this is what I looked likeâ appearance (maybe tomorrow!).Â
The fur hat gives it a slightly more edgy twist and makes it perfect for a snowy winter in Britain. Â There really is only one word for this piece â incredible. Not to be outdone on evening wear, Temperley has created a series selection of evening gowns which any girl would feel amazing in. This off-white, embellished gown (right) has to be my favourite â and it certainly captures the essence of Renaissance. The decoration on this dress ensures that this is something that any girl would adore. It isnât too showy, but it certainly would catch all the eyes when you entered the room. The gold details, in particular the shrug, not only enhance the sense of history, but make this a truly striking piece of art. Again, fit for a Duchess, but I really wouldnât complain if I owned one!
Â
The vast contrast in trends shown yesterday is obvious when comparing Issa and Acquascutum: from elegant and feminine to androgynous and monochrome! Okay, so I said androgynous and then chose an outfit with a skirt â but this has to be my favourite outfit from the entire collection. The jacket is fabulous! The colours, whilst being monochrome, are soft and absolutely stunning. Even the skirt, reasonably plain, is decorated with the detail at the hem, and when teamed with those leather boots is a killer look. Perhaps too dressy for your average 9am in Amory but for a job interview, or for you 3rd years, a winterâs morning in a top London firm would be even better with this outfit!
Have a lazy Sunday ladies (I mean work hard and get that essay doneâŠ) and try and have a look at the fashion week website â âtill tomorrow girls!
