Inside The Great British Comic Relief Bake-off

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

A fantastic group of celebrities cooking up some surprisingly Mary Berry worthy bakes as well as some truly shocking creations, and all for charity, what’s not to love about the Great British Comic Relief Bake-off?

Featuring everyone from Gok Wan to Dame Edna, with very differing levels of success, this season’s charity special had us at HerCampus getting out the spatula and throwing on our aprons to recreate (and improve!) some of the show stopping celebrity bakes.

Sarah Brown

Sarah Brown’s jammy dodger shortbread cookies are not only mouth-watering in looks, but in taste too gaining a “smashing” compliment from Mary Berry herself!

Michael Sheen

This episode winning pavlova, baked by Michael Sheen, has got us whipping up the egg whites ready to make our own meringues. Easy to make but impressive looking this one will go down a treat with anyone!

Alexa Chung

The fashionable contest proudly opened the show claiming to have not turned an oven on in three years, but still managed to shine in the signature challenge with her salted caramel brownies. We wouldn’t say no to one (or two) of these to see us through deadlines!

Jennifer Saunders

This absolutely fabulous giant cookie involves two of our favourite things: cookies and toast! While the accompanying bacon has us wondering, a cookie this size means one cookie is just the right serving!

With some whole-hearted attempts both successful and not so much and lots of laughs this season of Great British Comic Relief Bake-off has us all prepped for Red Nose Day on March 13th, especially with a promise of Alexa’s crumpets to enjoy while we watch!
