So January is almost over, and admit it – the initial dedication to keeping that New Year’s Resolution of eating more healthily and doing more exercise, has been lost amongst the fluffy PJ’s, Netflix and share bag chocolates (realistically for one), to get through the cold.
It’s safe to say that when we look back on the year, whilst stuffing our faces in wine and pigs in blankets, and partying the night away, our resolutions are long forgotten. But it shouldn’t be this way. Here are some ‘resolution’ ideas that can be stuck to, and make sure that in December, 2016 will be the year you achieved your resolution.
Keep it Simple.
You don’t have to go out of your way to feel that you have achieved something; sometimes the smallest things are the best things. Is there a book that you’ve always wanted to read? A film that you’ve never got round to watching? Looking back on the year and saying you’ve finally done that, is something to tick off the list.
Be more Adventurous.
Maybe 2016 is your year for ambition. A year you’ll remember for the rest of the life. So, do something crazy. Visit that place you’ve always wanted to. Do a skydive. Accomplish that run for charity that you’ve been talking about since 2010. Whatever the adventure – go for it!
Stick to the Clichés.
Whilst ‘doing more exercise,’ ‘eating more healthily,’ ‘doing that diet,’ have become non-movers on the list of frequent New Year’s resolutions, what’s to say you can’t do it if you really want to. You’ve got the whole year, so there’s no need to go full steam ahead. Instead, join a sports team, or go to the gym with friends – it may not have to be all the time – but knowing you’re doing something (and doing it with friends) will be motivation enough to continue.
Your Friends!
Friends are everything, and you’ll never be closer to them than you are now at university, so make the most of it! They are memories, and people, that will stick with you forever and continuing to do those hilarious, weird, and wonderful things with them will only result in an amazing year.
And Finally… Enjoy Yourself.
Be happy. It’s easy to say and it’s said often but it’s more important than any other resolution out there; be your gorgeous, happy self. Do what makes you smile this year, and it’ll be the best one yet.
