Holiday Destinations for the Rich and Famous

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Students are renowned for their love of backpacking around the globe, dominating youth hostels and sticking to a very strict budget. However, not all travelling involves living out of a backpack, and there are many places in the world where not a bunk bed can be found for miles. Have you ever wondered where the A-list stars like to spend their summer? From Mexico to the French Riviera, there are many extremely glamorous destinations where you could find yourself dining next to the likes of Jennifer Aniston or Kate Moss.

Jennifer Aniston

Friends star Jennifer Aniston likes to spend her free time relaxing with her friends at the One&Only Palmilla resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Rooms can cost up to £2000 per night and come equipped with a Bose sound system and a telescope for midnight star gazing and even whale watching. In fact, Jennifer was spotted spending her 41st birthday here with celeb co-star Courteney Cox and also her rumoured boyfriend at the time Gerard Butler.

Dannii Minogue

The five star Atlantis resort in Dubai is a top destination for celebs and Dannii Minogue is a regular visitor after falling in love with it whilst filming the ‘Judges Home’ part of The X Factor. The hotel is famous for its stunning views and luxurious bedrooms; there is even an internal train/tram line which can take you from the hotel across the famous Dubai Palm island.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Brangelina will rarely be seen lounging in a five star luxury resort in a stylish location. Instead, their love of secluded places rich in culture and natural beauty is what brought them to choosing the island of Con Dao Archipelago off the coast of Vietnam as their holiday destination for the family. The island is known for its hassle free lifestyle and its quiet and deserted beaches and bays.

Kate Moss

It would be hard not to spot someone famous if you went to St Tropez in the South of France in the summer season. Kate Moss is a huge fan of the area and was spotted holidaying here in the summer with her husband and Sir Phillip Green. Club 55 is a well-known A-list hotspot, with stars such as Will.I.Am and Jenson Button being among its many customers. Club 55 is a beautiful and sophisticated beach club serving some of the most amazing food with five star service. However this doesn’t come cheap! It can cost around €50 for 2 sunbeds, but it’s worth it if you want to be on the best beach in St Tropez.

Cameron Diaz

When she isn’t filming her latest hit, Cameron Diaz can be spotted enjoying the surf in Hawaii. The Four Seasons at Hualalai is a spectacular hotel which is popular amongst the A-listers. There are 7 different pools  all located on the ocean front, and the rooms and suites are found in the bungalows within the grounds and come equipped with an Entertainment centre with a 42-inch plasma TV, a walk-in powder room and wardrobe and some even have their own private plunge pool.

Connie is a BA Geography student in her third year at Exeter University, and is  also a deputy Travel Editor for Her Campus Exeter. Connie discovered her passion for travel when she was just 13 years old during a 4 month school exchange programme to Christchurch in New Zealand. Since then she has developed a love for discovering more of the world and on her gap year she was lucky to travel to both Africa and South-East Asia, and next on her ambitious list is to visit South America. She will hopefully be able to contribute well to the Her Campus Exeter Travel team! At university Connie enjoys spending quality time with her friends, and is a great fan of trying and testing different cuisines and restaurants, despite being a rather poor cook herself. She enjoys playing sport socially such as netball, tennis and hockey, but has never possessed the competitiveness and aggression needed to be a top player in either of these! Something she is keen to pursue however is learning to speak Spanish, which she is currently studying alongside her Geography degree at university.  After university Connie plans to work within the Marketing and PR sector, having always had an interest in working with large scale brands in both the beauty and travel sector.
