Last time we met our HCX guy, he was highlighting that the male of species was just as nervous about Freshers week as us girlies. This week, after being inspired by our fashion team’s article about guy’s perspectives on A/W trends, he decided to disclose his least favourite female trends…read and weep:

Girls, on the whole you do a phenomenally good job of looking good when you’re out and about. Here are a couple of things to avoid though this autumn that you may think looks great, but we guys just don’t get.

1. Excessively large sunglasses

Winter is coming, so thankfully this pet hate is soon to be packed away with an onset of cold and rain that winter in Exeter will inevitably bring. However girls, take note, and take it on board for your wardrobe next year: sunglasses that are larger than your face are a deal breaker – you look like something from the cast of “A Bugs Life.” Not cool. On a related note, if you have to wear a coat because of the cold, maybe don’t wear sunnies with it.

2. Gap year trousers.

So you went on a gap year, congratulations: tell me about your travels! Did you find yourself on a beach in Thailand? Seriously, I’m sure you had a great time, but from a male perspective, you look ridiculous.

3. UGG Boots

We get it, they’re comfortable. But who thinks it’s fashionable to walk round with two woolly mammoths attached to your feet? UGG boots have got to be the worst things that have ever happened to female fashion. Ladies, they look awful, and how much did you pay for the privilege? This winter, please lose the UGG’s and go for something a little more fashionable.

4. Tracksuit bottoms

Tracksuit bottoms are another item of clothing where comfort has been chosen over style, which is great, if you’re inside your room, or perhaps a cheeky pop to Co-op. But never on campus please.

5. Maxi dresses

I personally have no issue with Maxi dresses, but I know a lot of men who do. All the work you’ve been putting in at the gym and the diets to get your perfect beach body, and then you put on a FULL LENGTH Maxi dress, for the love of God why?! Why are you covering up? That’s what you do in winter! So next summer, lose the maxi dress girls, your boyfriend will appreciate it.
