These cheap but chic decorations will add some festive sparkle to your room!

Hanging Dried Oranges

Cut oranges into thin slices and place on a baking sheet. Place them in the oven for about an hour at 140 degrees, or until completely dried out. Not only do they smell amazing, but they make great table decorations. They can also be made into baubles by attaching ribbon to them. If you are struggling for gift ideas, these dried oranges can make lovely sustainable present decorations too!

Paper Chains

A primary school classic but still very effective! Amazon sells packs of paper that are ready to be assembled. Make in front of your favourite Christmas film with your housemates. Alternatively, you can cut your own strips from coloured paper and glue together.

Pinecone Table Decorations

Go on a festive walk and see what you can forage! Once collected, arrange your pinecones on a mantel piece, windowsill, or dining table for a festive look. If you want to go a step further, spray your pinecones with metallic spray paint but they look great au natural too.

Paper Snowflakes

Another school classic. You’ll need paper of any colour and some scissors. Fold your paper in half and then half again and get to work cutting out shapes along the fold line. Unfold and display anywhere around your house you fancy.

Making your university residence feel more festive shouldn’t come at a great cost. All of these ideas are cost effective, and they make for lovely activities for you and your housemates to enjoy together!
