The Best Dressed from Exeter’s Fresher’s Ball 2014

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Once again Exeter’s Fresher’s Ball has come and gone and I am sure everyone who attended it agreed that it was amazing. Not only in terms of the great entertainment and yummy chocolate fountain, but because of the effort Exeter students made to create some amazing outfits, you all certainly dressed to impress. A ball is always a great occasion to splash out on a smart dress, a pair of super cute heels and of course some matching accessories. You can play it safe in simple shapes and pastel hues, but the best dressed girls are the ones who take the opportunity to really stand out and let their imaginations run wild.

Now let’s have a look at some of the best-dressed fresher’s outfits, hairstyles and accessories:

Dresses:

1. Playsuits:

Less is more when it comes to these gorgeous playsuits: a relatively new look for formal attire. Smarten up with some cute matching heels and a clutch and you won’t go wrong.

2. Waterfall Style:

The waterfall dress is a dainty and elegant choice. Choose a discreet colour and try to spice it up with a black leather jacket, statement necklace or flashy bracelets.

3. Bodycon:

This simple figure hugging dress stands out form the crowd with it’s off the shoulder neckline and tight fitted skirt. The detailed white lace also adds a fabulous edge to the traditional bodycon style dress. Smarten up with a smart Blazer.

4. Full Length:

Long Dresses are the pinnacle of sophistication when it comes to formal dress. This empire line adds a lovely shape to this classic blue dress. The gems are also a sweet detail to add a little sparkle. Complete with some sweet low heels and a few sparkly bracelets.

Hair styles

1.      Side Parting:

I just adore this side-parting hairstyle. Stylist Luke Hersheson even said: “The side parting has become a new style statement. There’s something incredibly chic and something incredibly grown up about it.”

2.      Curls:

You can’t go wrong with this simple yet cute style, they are easy to create, match with pretty much every outfit and just look effortlessly elegant. Why not finish off with spray on shine or shimmer dust! A little glitter will make any hairstyle look ready for the ball and will make you look like the most glamorous girl in the room.

Accessories

Don’t be afraid to introduce a new colour to your outfit. It’s a great way to make your accessories stand out, particularly if you’re opting to wear a dress that is black or a neutral shade. Some of the most popular accessories that appeared at the ball were bold statement metal necklaces.

I hope all of you who attended Exeter’s Fresher’s Ball had an amazing time, and have been inspired to dress for the next one, as there will be many more to come.
