All the products you need to get you ready for Valentine’s Day!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

So, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. Whether you have a hot date lined up, a night out with the girls or a quiet night in planned it is never too early to start thinking about what you’re going to wear and your preparations for the day. All of these products listed below are guaranteed to be trustworthy, so you don’t need to worry about major makeup fails and hopefully they will give you an always welcome confidence boost.

1. Red nail polish

This is a Valentine’s Day classic, but also an amazing confident booster. I always feel so much more put together when I have my nails painted, especially if I’ve got matching hands and toes! Plus, if there was ever an excuse to wear a fabulous shade of red it is Valentine’s Day. Essie is always a reliable choice, but Barry M is a classic if you’re looking to spend a little less.

2. Dry brush

When I first heard of dry brushing I thought it sounded like the most ridiculous idea ever. However, I invested in a cheap one and decided to see what all the hype was about. This gently exfoliates your skin and stimulates blood flow, and over prolonged use can really help to reduce the appearance of cellulite. I would definitely recommend as it makes your skin super soft (whether this is for your benefit or someone else’s…)

3. Shimmer body cream

I know, this sounds like something you might have done when you were seven and getting ready for a school disco, but hear me out. A body cream with a subtle shimmer can work wonders, it not only masks any bruises or bumps on your body but also adds a barely there sheen which makes your skin look amazing (think Victoria’s Secret model). This makes even the most sun deprived skin ready to bare itself in the winter.

4. Too Faced Better than Sex mascara

Maybe you think Valentine’s Day is overrated and can’t be bothered with the hype, but are still up for treating yourself…this mascara might be the one for you. It is so amazing, and makes your lashes look extremely long and thick. I don’t know if it is better than sex, but it’s worth a try.

5. A new perfume

Now, we all know that perfume is crazy expensive, especially for luxury brands. You can easily pay upwards of £60 for a small bottle, but what if you can’t afford to spend this but still want to smell amazing? Thankfully, Feel Unique offers a pick ‘n’ mix service where you can try hundreds of different luxury samples. The perfume samples come in handy little spray bottles and easily last two/three days. For £3.95 you get five samples, and I’ve tried everything from Benefit brow gel to Prada perfume. This way you get to wear a beautiful new scent for your Valentine’s Day plans. The best part is that you get sent a voucher after your order has been shipped to redeem against any product on the website. You’re welcome. (I’m not sponsored, I promise).

6. Lip scrub

I love a good lip scrub because they make your lips super soft and this Lush one tastes amazing. You just rub it on your lips and you can either wash it off or use a damp flannel to wipe it away. This is perfect to use before the next recommended product, because it makes any lip product you put on look 10x better.

7. Liquid lipstick

I am not usually a fan of liquid lipsticks, I almost always find that they’re very drying and have a funny texture. However, this Estate liquid lipstick is only £8 and not only feels feather light on your lips but can withstand ANYTHING. I’m not joking, I defy anyone to eat or drink (or kiss…) and have this come off. This is a trusty choice if you’re on a date and don’t want to have to keep worrying about touch ups.

8. Sheet/face masks

These are a quick way to pump some moisture into your skin, and have you looking amazing for whatever your plans may be. The best thing is that they are really cheap and can be bought from anywhere, so it is essentially a guilt free treat.
