9 Pieces We Love from MyFlashTrash.com

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Here at HCX, we have been lucky enough to preview some of the standout pieces from MyFlashTrash.com’s international jewellery brands to show you how to brighten up any outfit with just an accessory. With the days getting darker and the queue for Arena a lot colder, it can be tempting to forego dressing up and play it safer in something showing a little less skin. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t be fashionable at the same time! British entrepreneur  Amber Atherton, most famous for her appearances on Made In Chelsea, developed My Flash Trash after working at fashion giants Vogue and Hermes. In recent years, My Flash Trash has come to be a one stop shop for the hottest jewellery and accessory brands out there. Most notably, her unique statement jewellery has come to be the perfect way to transform every outfit; from a  plain white tee to a simple LBD!

If you weren’t convinced by statement jewellery as a sartorial lifesaver before, you definitely will now. Picture the problem you encounter so many times in one term: yet another Thursday night at Arena, but you’re lacking outfit inspiration. Your trusty LBD would definitely do the job, but it has done so for the past two weeks! The easiest way to solve this dilemma is by adding a statement necklace to the mix. Go for the neon brights of this Celliana necklace embellished with every charm imaginable to perk up any LBD. If a statement necklace just is not enough, pair it with some stacked neon friendship bracelets (also by Celliana) to inject some colour.

The same goes for a standard Monday night at Mosaic. Give your usual getup some extra edge with My Flash Trash’s less bright (but by no means understated!) jewellery. We dare HCX girls to try My Flash Trash’s take on Autumn/Winter 2013’s punk trend with this gold spike choker (£15). Wear alone or pair it with some softer gold charm necklaces for more of an impact. If spikes aren’t your thing, then My Flash Trash’s ‘peace’ double ring (£6) is another way to get the look, without breaking any health and safety rules!

Statement earrings are always the quickest way to refreshing even your most over-worn outfits. If you’re feeling sartorially fearless (and think your ears could do with some serious weightlifting), try My Flash Trash’s jewel bug earrings (£9.60). We love how the combination of metalwork, colour and bling just seems to work.

For some more understated chic, try these updates on the trusty hoop (£15); the interwoven gold strands add interest without being overbearing on your ears. Pair these statement jewels with a slicked back ponytail for a quick and easy night out look. No one will even notice the outfit below your neck!

Neon brights and jewels definitely do not have to be reserved for big nights out. This Love Moi necklace (£12) is perfect for adding interest to your basic white t-shirt and jeans combo. By keeping your daytime outfit simple with staples of a leather jacket and blue jeans, this neon jewelled necklace can look appropriate, whether you are in the Forum or on the top floor of Timepiece.

However, at HCX we know that sometimes all an outfit needs for a pick-me-up is some sparkle and bling. The latest My Flash Trash collection for A/W 2013 has taken inspiration from major fashion capitals of the world to bring you a selection of eye-catching bracelets hailing from London to Tokyo, Paris to Hollywood. Stack the grey London bracelet (£10), probably inspired by the colour of our capital’s skies, with some extra bracelets such as this My Flash Trash Girl evil eye bracelet to create a statement look and some serious arm candy.
