7 Best On-Screen Kisses

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t enjoy a good on-screen lip-lock? The anticipation, the music, a gorgeous man, (Ryan Gosling, need we say more?) it’s all great. So here at HXC we’ve complised a comprehensive countdown of our favourite kisses a la français

7) Spiderman (2002) – Peter Parker & Mary Jane

The upside-down kiss is fabulous. This is Tobey Maguire at his finest. Of course it’s raining and he’s just saved her from bad guys. What girl could resist a man in tight red lycra?

6) Lady & The Tramp

What a bella notte! The chefs-come-2-man-band really set the mood for a pooch smooch. Tramp is such a sweet-talker and their little ladies and tramps at the end of the film are the cutest things ever!

5) Friends – Ross & Rachel

It’s always been you, Rach. The End, no need to go any further. The kiss in the Central Perk Coffee Shop is pre- “we were on a break” and Emily drama. They are perfect right at this moment. *sighing* If only it were that simple.

4) The Notebook

Hello Ryan Gosling! Yes, James Marsden is good looking too (and he’s lush in 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl) but let’s face it, everyone is shipping Noah and Allie. Anyone who writes you every day for a year, that’s three hundred and sixty-five letters, is a keeper. As soon as the rain starts to fall when they’re in that canoe together, we know a hot kiss is where it’s headed.

3) Gossip Girl – Chuck & Blair

Ooh, we just had to put this love-hate relationship in here somewhere. We’ve watched more than our fair share of on screen smooches but the scene in the back of Chuck’s limo is H O T. And they had some funky effects going on which definitely added to the steaminess, so thumbs up to the visual effects guy.

2) Bridget Jones’ Diary

Now, depending on your inclination, there are two pretty good kisses in this film. Hugh Grant is in his prime and being hilarious (“absolutely enormous panties… hello mummy”) and Colin Firth is just being your standard British gent which is always appealing. Who doesn’t love a modern day Darcy?

1) New Girl – Jess & Nick

“I meant something like that” – boom! Yes Nick Miller, you’ve got our vote. That was one hell of a first kiss. The tension between them had been building up for so long you could have cut it with a knife. It’s one of those kisses that you can almost imagine happening in real life, which makes it all the better. *sighing*… if only.
