This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter Cornwall chapter.

Our first Campus Celebrity of the year represents the most involved and outgoing of students. Dean is not only a student at Exeter Cornwall, but is also Exeter President of Tremough English Society, Secretary of the History Society and iStudent Brand Ambassador for the Independent newspaper. He was also recently elected as FXU Student Voice Chair 2015/16!

Which course(s) are you taking and why?

I study English, History and Politics (Flexible Combined Honours). It’s an amazing mix of the humanities and keeps me on my toes and entertained.

Tell us 2 interesting facts about you?

    1. It’s quite well known to my friends that I’m a fan of rap music, but not many of them know that there’s a video of me rapping on YouTube when I was in Year 8. I’m not going to give you the link though!

    2. I love technology, and created a couple of iPhone apps with a schoolfriend in Sixth Form.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Opportunistic, optimist and openness.

Favourite place in Cornwall?

Looe Bay – it’s where my family always went on holiday when I was a kid. While you’re there, check out Polperro for a beautiful coastal town, and Adrenalin Quarry for a great day of go karts, zip lines and a swing off the edge of a cliff.

Seeing as it’s Halloween season, do you have any tips for a great Halloween costume?

The only thing that really matters is how much you enjoy it. A person with a bedsheet dressed as a ghost with a huge grin on their face will look better than the person who spent a fortune on a costume and isn’t having a good time. Get creative and enjoy yourself!

General advice for readers?

Take every opportunity you can to go out of your comfort zone and try new things. It’s a good mentality for life, but especially for university; there are so many things that you can get involved in without many consequences if you realise it’s not for you. Apparently your years at university are the best of your life, so make them memorable, because there are few feelings worse than regret for what could have been.
