5 Events You Don’t Want To Miss This November

It’s less than five weeks until the end of Term One and the start of the Christmas Holiday, and we’re all very excited to get back to our lovely homes; to spend some quality time with our loved ones, decorate the Christmas tree, and exchange presents and smiles. But before all that, we’ve still got lots of exciting events to attend on campus and in Fal town! So if you’re currently swamped in coursework deadlines and set reading, relax and have a look at all the awesome events that are being held this November. It’s time to celebrate the end of 2014 with a BANG!

5. Kick Started Events Presents: Ghetto Heroes & Funky Villains

Event Date & Time: Saturday November 15th 2014 – 9:00pm-2:00am // Location: The Stannary

It’s back and better than ever! On November 15th, Kick Started Events presents the best mid-term party ever! The Stannary will become home to the ultimate standoff…Ghetto Heroes Vs. Funky Villains. With music from Ghetto Funk and Falmouth residents, The Hong Kong Ping Pong Club, DJ B-Side, JFB, Phibes and Titan Sound, the night is set to be a blast (off!). Grab your lycra suits, don your best cape and prepare yourself for a SUPER night! Which side will you be on?

 

4. Truro City of Lights

Event Date & Time: Wednesday 19th Number – 7:00pm // Location: Truro Town Centre

“Come and see a dazzling procession of handmade withy and tissue lanterns float through the streets, carried by professional artists, Cornish school children and members of the local community and youth groups. This year’s theme is ‘Expect the Unexpected….’. The City’s Christmas lights will [also] be switched on in tandem with the procession moving through the city”. Truro is the perfect location to prepare for the festive season. Current Christmas events that are being held this November include the Reindeer Parade (Wednesday 26th Nov), Cornwall Hospice Santa Fun Run (Wednesday 26th Nov), Truro Christmas Street Markets, and of course, late night shopping! The city has lots of seasonal events for all ages and interests, so grab your course friends and flatmates, and get into the jolly spirit! 

 

3. Bag On The Beach #2

Event Date & Time: Saturday 22nd November – 7:00pm // Location: Gyllyngvase Beach Cafe, Falmouth.

WeSUP Paddleboard Centre are hosting the 2nd Bag on the Beach of the academic year! The first B.O.T.B was extremely successful, with over 100 students snuggling up on Gylly beach to catch a screening of Lords of Dogtown. The second event is set to be even better, with a brand new movie and lots of winter goodies to enjoy. So on this chilly November night, why not spend it wrapped up in your cosy sleeping bag, sitting under the stars next to the camp fire, roasting some marshmallows and watching an awesome film with your buddies. There’s no excuse for not attending as the event is completely free! This is how we do it Cornwall style…

 

2. HomeGrown 

Event Date & Time: Saturday 22nd November – 10:00pm-2:00am // Location: The Stannary

“On November 22nd, 5 student DJ’s will battle it out for the chance to support Hannah Wants in January!” Current line up includes: Lusted, Nyx, Juicy Music Group, Ken Barrington & 5am! The Stannary will be fully decorated to suit the occassion and will have awesome surround sound. That’s not even mentioning the fact that there will be tons of drinks deals and amazing give-aways too…and it’s all completely free. So make sure you head up to The Stannary to ensure your favourite act of the night gets the amazing opporunity to support DJ Hannah at what is going to be one of the biggest FXU events of 2015! 

 

1. The Snowball 2014

Event Date & Time: Saturday 29th November – 9:00-2:00am // Location: The Stannary

“This Years Snowball is set to blow the baubles off of any other, with plenty of seasonal cheer, mulled wine, canapes, live music, carol singers, mince pies, magicians, snow machines, Father Christmas, reindeer, Djs, decor, free Santa hats, Santas Grotto and sacks load more…”. Last year The Snowball proved to be the most popular FXU event of the year, and there’s no reason why it can’t keep up that tradition this year. Previous years have also included bucking reindeers, candy cane vodka shots and a visit from Santa himself! I can’t stress how amazing this party is, so make sure you leave space in your busy schedules to attend this awesome end of the year extravaganza!
