Spring Cleaning! 5 Tips to Stay Organized

It’s spring time-which means it’s time for warmth, blooming flowers and spring cleaning! We’re always busy, that’s a fact, and staying organized in college isn’t always easy. While we may vary in interests hobbies and areas of study, I’m sure that the majority of college students can agree that the more organized you are, the less stress you feel on a day-to-day basis. This is definitely the case for me when it comes to my lifestyle. Here are a few, basic tips to help you stay organized this season.

1. Get Rid of What You Don’t Need

I’m serious, if you don’t use it, you don’t need it. Save yourself some clutter and just give it away! These items just make a mess and you can never find a proper place to store them. If you can’t decide, give yourself a timeline, maybe a week, to decide if you really need it/use it, and if not, it’s time to move on.

2. Use Bins or Folders to Organize What You Do Need

Organizational bins are like my crack; I’m addicted to buying them. Catch me in the back of TJ Maxx or HomeGoods with a cart full or organizers. I love them, and I do use them. I use these bins to store clothes, books, bedding or school supplies I’m not currently using. It really helps keep things organized and out of the way. Folders are great too; they help keep classwork, projects and assignments all in one place.

3. Make Your Bed

Yes, this is super easy and yes this will honestly help. While it may feel like more of a nuisance than anything else, when you come back to a well-made bed after a long day, you’ll be thankful. Not only does this make your space appear to be more organized, it gives you a nice, clean area to relax, do work or watch Netflix.

4. Make To-Do Lists

Lists are extremely helpful. They could be for school work and projects for the week, or a list of things you need to get done for the day. This will help you stay organized and keep you on track.

5. Clean Out Your School Bag or Purse

We all know how messy a purse or bag can get, believe me, this happens to me all the time. Not only does it make it extremely difficult to find certain things, it can also seriously weigh down your bag. Empty out the things you no longer need and maybe condense what you do need. This will make your life so much easier, and would maybe save a few back aches.
